Hi Everyone, If anyone has read my posts in the past, after my surgery I ended up with acid reflux. As I told everyone I take Prilosec OTC twice everyday.  It works but I still don't eat that much, because most of the time everything I eat bothers me.  That is probably why I lost so much weight so fast.  Well anyway,  I was told by a few people at my job, that Prevacid is better.  I was just wondering is this true?  IF anyone can tell me whether I should go with Prilosec Or Prevacid???

Both Prevacid and Prilosec are what are called proton pump inhibitors. They inhibit, or reduce, the production of stomach acid. They both work the same way. Some people may respond better to one or the other but they are both the same type of medication. If you want and your insurance will pay for it then give the prevacid a try. Many people take the Prilosec OTC because their insurance will not pay for the Prevacid and it is very expensive. Best of luck. Kathy

Hi - I was on prevacid, and I just switched to nexium, it seems to work better.  Hope that helps - plus, if you get something in a prescription form, maybe your co-pay would be cheaper than a month's worth of OTC pepcid.
