Hi! I'm new to the forum and web site and am scheduled for RNY on 7/1/08.  I was trying to find some good post surgery books to use as references.  Any ideas?  I saw that there was even a "weight loss surgery for dummies" book but I hesitate to purchase anything without at least knowing something about it! I'd appreciate any help! Thanks Crayann

I like WLS for Dummies.  It's understandable without being insulting. Robin in Ewing

Hi Robin! Thanks for the post.  I was in fact looking for that book but haven't been able to find it in the stores.  Guess I'll have to order it online.  Thanks again!

Try half.com I buy lots of used books that way. It is definitely a good book (WLS for dummies) I passed mine onto someone having the surgery..... Bernadette

Weight Loss Surgery For Dummies by Marina S. Kurian, Barbara Thompson, and Brian K. Davidson (Paperback - May 27, 2005) Buy new$21.99 $14.95 44 Used & new from $11.90 Weight Loss Surgery For Dummies (Paperback, 2005) Author: Barbara Thompson, Brain K. Davidson, Marina S. Kurian Best Price: $12.00 Hi Crayann, I put the prices of the used books above.  In some cases such as with this book, you would be better to buy it new as by the time you add the s & h you are paying the same amount.   I think that I must have read every book that was printed on the subject.  I found if you go to Amazon.com and type in weight loss surgery.  It will bring up all the books about the subject.  Then on most of them there is a description of the book and if you scroll down further many give customer reviews. One book I highly suggest is actually the cookbook Eating Well AFter WLS.  I still use it 2 years post op and it has some great ideas for very new post-ops. I usually buy my books at either Half. com or Amazon, new or used.   Most of the time if you buy new from Amazon and spend $25.00 S & H is free. Good luck on your up and coming surgery. Jeanne

Thank you so much Jeanne.  I just sat down at the computer to do just that!  I've looked at Amazon.com (never heard of half.com but will def. check it out!) and found quite a few titles.  I'm glas though to have feedback from tothers who have "been where I'm going".  I don't usually like to buy a book without a referral or at least some idea how it is.   Thanks for your help and your good wishes.
