support groups in North Jers??

Does anyone know of any support groups in North jersey??

I don't know how far north you're looking.... Dr. Jean-Baptiste's next support group meeting is tomorrow, June 19th from 5:30pm until 7pm. His office is located next to Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield, NJ.  908-226-4200  www.obesitysurgery.md

Hi St. Clare's in Dover holds a meeting the 4th Wednesday of the month at the hospital.  This month it will be held in the Women's center and it's open to anyone! There are some in Fairfield  (Thurs) & Morristown also but I'm not sure of dates & times.  I'm sure someone on here will know! Good Luck! Vicki

Englewood Hospital in Englewood use to have them.  Not sure if they still do.  Use to be on a Tuesday once a month.  201-894-3000 .. Support Group at Hackensack Hospital .  It meets the first Thursday of the month from 6:30 - 8:00 PM The group is run by Annette Wasielewski, the Nurse Bariatric Coordinator for Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMED   .. (thanks to Plum1967)  Valley meeting, from what I recall, they meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month starting at 6:00 PM and running for about an hour and a half.  They meet at the Kraft Center building on Essex Road ...  I think it is - off ofCenturty Road ...  I dont' know how familiar you are with the area, but it is not too far from Route 17. Their meeting is run by a gentleman names Gio ... (thanks to Plum1967)  I know there is a group that meets at Morristown Memorial Hospital . The meeting is the second Tuesday of each month.  Here is their link:

and a group meets every 4^th Thursday at Saint Clare’s in Dover . Gastric Bypass patients meet between 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.. Banded patients meet 7:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m..  Here is their link:

There is one that “hosted” by Doctor Garrison, and the other is “hosted” by Doctors Bertha/Abkin. I think the Abkin/Bertha meetings are the last Thursday of the month. I am not sure when Doctor Garrison’s meetings are. I believed they are open to anyone, but I could be wrong. It would be best to call them.  I would love to know about the one held in Fairfield . If anyone can send information concerning that I would be greatly appreciated.   That’s all I am aware of. Hope this was helpful 

thanks for that - now I don't have to type it all out again!  On the Valley Hospital meeting, there is a change, however.  The support group for RNY bypass patients is the FIRST WEDNESDAY of each month - same location.  I am not sure when their lap bad meeting is.  I would suggest calling Dr. Davis' office to get details if that's the meeting you're looking for. Personally, I only attend the Hackensack Univ. Hi Vicky, Do you know when Garrisons next meeting is.. I missed last week because I was under ttreatment for my thryroid cancer.  i would love to hear more about a fairfield meeting... any info you can provide I would really appreciate. Donna 

Donna Dr Garrison's meeting is the Second Tuesday of the month. I saw something about the Fairfield meeting on this site.  I seemed to remember it being on a Thursday only because that is a night that I cannot make a meeting.  I will try to get a chance to look around & will let you know if I find something. Thank you so much for the St. Clare's Dover info.  I am having Bypass August 11th and I have been wondering where the closest meeting to me might be.  I am up in sussex county and I haven't heard of one in my area..... By the way, how soon after surgery did you all start going to support meetings? danielle

Hi Danielle Don't wait until after surgery - start going now!  You can pick up some great tips for the first days after surgery and hear from people who just went through it. Lots of good information available for you!
