Newbie Here!
Can someone tell me what the RNY next to your name is? I know this sounds stupid....but I am having open banded gastric bypass surgery in the weeks coming and I am not sure whether the people with RNY are people who have had the same surgery, or if they are lap band patients or what? Please help. I hate sounding stupid...but this whole forum thing is really new to me...just joined today...thanks...danielle

Hi Danielle,
I used Dr. Iannace 2 years ago and went from 415 lbs to currently 190 lbs! I feel and look great! You picked a great Dr. Let me know if you ever have any questions!

Angel,
Thank you so much for your input. I have heard nothing but good things about the practice. I have to ask you though, I am feeling a little nervous...they don't do much in the way of really getting to know you before surgery.... I have only sat with Dr Iannoce once for like 1/2 hour and now I am going to have surgery....seems a little crazy! I wish they spent more time helping you a bit...but I guess that's what this site is for! Thanks Angel
hey good luck with your surgery and welcome to the jersey board
dont ever worry about asking, we all asked questions in the beginning and many of us are still asking as we go along.
i had my surgery two years ago with a dr. noyan, and im down 122 pounds and im loving life.
im sure you will also have a wonderful experience.
goos luck, jacki
I think that "banded" gastric bypass is a bit different than the standard rny, no? I believe that it includes a band around the new stomach (or pouch) to help keep it from stretching. Hence the "banded" in the name.
I could be wrong, but this is my understanding of that label.
Otherwise it would just be "gastric bypass" or "rny"

UGH! I can't believe it! I just found out that my doctors office is going out of network with all insurance companies next week and that my procedure will need to be done out of network!!! I can't afford to do that! So now, on to find a new doctor. I have researched a ton on this website and I have a found a few good surgeons...but now my problem is that most of the surgeons only do laprascopic bypass rather than open banded. I heard open banded gives you a much higher success rate! Any words of wisdom?????
