Hi all - I'm three weeks out from RNY, and from the minute the anesthesia wore off I've been starving!  Both my surgeon and internist say I shouldn't be hungry, which does not exactly help.  Anybody else have this problem?  The whole reason I had the surgery was because I thought it was supposed to diminish your appetite.  I'm eating exactly as I've been told to, taking all my supplements, drinking 60 oz. of water a day, 70 gm protein a day.  I'm trying to be patient, but this is HARD!

I know you don't want to hear this but is it REALLY hunger? It may just be your old habits and your brain saying "It's time to be hungry".  I think we spent so much time thinking we were hungry because we saw someone else eating or it was 'lunch time" or just because we always snacked while watching TV that it really takes time to discover that what you are feeling is probably NOT hunger at all. Be patient - it gets MUCH better! Good Luck! Vicki

I agree, it sounds like head hunger... I remember slightly feeling like wanted to eat because it was that time, that show was on, everyone was eating.. Are you doing other things to divert your energies, maybe you need to balance better what you eat and when.. are you at least getting the full feeling when you eat... I think at this stage working with a good nutritionist is what would help you..  give one a call.  Donna
