Advice on good place to start proces for RNY

Hi I have a relative who lives in Swedesboro  New Jersey and she is interested in having Gastric BYpass RNY Can anyone give me some Dr. and hospital information.   A hospital that has been awarded as a center for Bariatric Excellence would be good.     I am originally from NJ but live in Maryland now and we have some really great hospitals here.   I know in South Jersey most of the time when it comes to special type procedures or customized care you need to go to Philly, like HUP or Temple or some of those. Any help  on this is appreciated!! 

Hi I have no idea where Swedesboro is but I had my surgery @ Barix Clinic in LAnghorne PA.It's a hour 1 1/2 hours south of where I live but it is so worth it.WLS is all they do so everyone treat you with alot of respect & noone ever makes you feel bad because you're fat,unlike many regular hospitals.Tell her to check them out on the internet & if you go to the PA Forum there alot of Barix patients there

I have to second the Barix Clinics. I am just over 2 weeks out now and LOVE the hospital and the Drs! I had Dr. Boe, he is amazing!! Best of luck!

throwing in my 2 cents for Penn hospital and the group of Kirkland, Schut(whatever) and Wersing!! great team -- they do EVERYTHING for you -- make all your cardiac appts, pulmonary appts, nutritionist see's you at every appt, psych is in the same bldg -- they do all your insurance paperwork and you never have to talk to your insurance company -- they will tell you everything you should do -- and they are Gastroenterologist -- which was important for me -- i wanted someone who can do hernia or anything else after the bariatric surgery -- alot of surgeons won't touch you after WLS if they are not familar with it -- also i had my surgery on 11/22/06 and Kirkland was in my room on the morning of the 23rd to see how i was -- that was thanksgiving morning -- and he did both me and my husband -- no complications no complaints -- just weight loss :)  good luck roberta

Pennsylvania Hospital - Dr Matt Kirkland!!!!!!!!  They were just awarded the Center of Excellence, although, I'm shocked it took them this long!
