I just had WLS (gastric bypass) 7 weeks ago and since summer is ahead I'm a big rollercoaster fan is it a good idea for me to get on any anytime soon especially  with the way some move.

I had gatric bypass on March 3rd, so I have a couple of weeks more "rehab" than you do.  I actually went to Six Flags Great Adventure this past Sunday.  I rode most of the roller coasters and I was fine.  The only difference was that I was not squished into the seat Good Luck Jennifer  - NJ

Here's a (not so) funny (at the time) weight loss story for you. My last pre-op trip to great adventure was in 1998. I waited on line to go on the Batman rollercoaster, I rode it the year before and was so looking forward to going again. I waited 1 1/2 hours on that stupid line in the blazing heat. I remember getting the worst sunburn that day! I finally get up there and sit on the ride. The saftey harness wouldnt close without the help of the attendant. He actually put his foot on the harness that went over my head and put his weight on it and pushed it down so the latch would close. I was so big, I couldnt fit on the ride so he squished me into it instead of telling me to get off because I was too big for it. I was mortified and I was panicky the whole ride, afraid that the latch would come undone. I left immediately after the ride was over (it was only my 2nd ride of the day) So, my first year post op, I went and batman was the first ride I was drawn to. I sat right in the front seat, grabbed the harness and pulled it down... fit like a charm. Didnt need any help this time! AND I had room to spare! Thank god for weight loss surgery! Have a fantastic summer! -Janine

My boys are 3 reasons why WLS was right for me! I love my post op miracles =o)

I was cleared for a rough ER nursing job where I routinely get hit by psych patients at 8 weeks out - I would think that you could go on rollercoasters. I'm 6 mos out - but went a few weeks ago - and had no problems - except I couldn't believe how much more room I had! Pam
