South Jersey Support Group??
Hello, I am new to OH and am considering WLS. However, I am having a hard time finding much in South Jersey. Specifically Camden or Gloucester County. Does anyone know of a support group in this area? I would certianly consider a Dr over the bridge in Philly, but working full time with a toddler at home, going to Philly during the week is near impossible with my schedule.
Thank
Steph
There is a bariatric surgery center of exellence in Willingboro NJ down off of rte 130. Heres the link to their website. http://www.drthin.com/
Hi - I userou the Hospital of UPenn in Philly. Their support group that is mainly for Gastric Bypass meets on the 2nd Saturday (May 10th today) of the month at 10:30 am, and their LapBand group meets on the 4th Wednesday (May 28th) at 6:30 pm. I can give you locations if you are interested. They do charge 5$ for post-op, free to pre-op.
I also attend New Beginnings in Voorhees...there is a program fee. I didn't use one of the Virtua Dr's in this area (they require the program so most everyone who attends uses one of their dr's)
...I actually used a surgeon in N. Jersey but wanted to attend a support group and nutrition classes closer to home...so I paid to join this program. I only did the "after" program so it was 1/2 the price...I think I paid around 8 or 900 dollars...it's a lifetime membership to support group, weigh-ins and classes...and you get a few one on one appointments with the behavior therapist and the RN... I attended a couple of meetings before I joined to see if it would be worth it, just give them a call.

Dr. Patel out of AC also includes a support group with surgery and does not charge. Dr. Goldsteins program costs like $1,700 for the new Beginnings and extra if you want the exercise program. The support group is hard in this area, my doc doesn't really have one. U of P has them as well, but that would be Philly. Not for anything, i attended some support group meetings and they were helpful and informative, but I get a lot of support here and from Lapbandtalk.com since I had lapband done. Can't beat it really. Met some great friends, got good advice and learned a great deal. So I really haven't felt the need to find local support groups anymore. I'd pick the best doc by his surgery performance over the support group. You will get all the info you need from him/her or staff. Good luck.
