any tips or ideas?
Hi Vicki, Take a deep breath, it will be over with before you know it. Just follow whatever your surgeon tells you to do and you will be fine. Remember I will be praying for you tomorrow. You will be fast asleep during the surgery. There is really nothing to worry, Think POSITIVE!!!!! I will be waiting to hear how well you are doing!!!!
Vicki,
What I did was make a lot of lists. One list consisted of things I need to do before the operation (ex. don’t drink water, have id, bring chance of clothing, etc). Another list consisted of things I needed to do after the operation (have someone there to drive me home, keep list of meds in wallet in case I need to stay, etc). The next list consisted of things I needed to during the first few days at home (ex. drink slowly, only have fluids/clear broth, buy sugar free ice pops/jello/pudding, etc). One more list was things I wanted to accomplish while I was at home (ex. clean frig - both of contents and grime, pick-up dead leaves, etc). The final list was my goals listed by day, week and month. I basically did what I needed to keep myself busy.
Come the late afternoon/night time I was too busy with friends calling and wishing me luck.
So good luck to you !!
First, I was so hungry i could not think straight, but i had my sister take pictures of me, i made sure i had my bag ready. Essential are: Chapstick, Portable Fan, Something to read or write with, i took pajama bottom (didn't want my a** out, didn't bring tops because of the IV), slippers, Cell phone, ID, Insurance Card, Panties, toiletries and clothes change.
Also, try to relax (i know is difficult), rent some good movies and relax with the kids, hold them and pamper them. You won't be able to carry them for a while.
God bless you,
Miriam
