Self Paid

I have a question of anyone who was self paid.   My friend wants to have the Lap Band and she was denied by her insurance.   She was wondering about how much  it would cost her including the hospital bill (unless the insurance pays  the hospital bill) HAHAHAH.

I don't know....but she could talk to her doctor - they would probably be able to give her a price for paying....I didn't self pay nor did I have lap band....so I'm really not a good one to ask, but hopefully somebody else here will know. Pam

I DID have the band done, but my insurance paid for it all - so I can't give you an EXACT quote, but I hear $15,000 is probably the medium price. Again, I could be waaaaaayyyyyyy off. Silly question, do you know why you friend's insurance company denied it? Your friend may (A) want to speak to their family doctor, and (B) speak to a WLS doctor - to see what would be needed to have the insurance company pay for it (or at least partially)

I was a self pay.  I paid $14,000 for the RNY and was quoted $12,500 for the Lap Band.
