PCP in freehold?

OK- I've decided its time. I've lived in NJ for six years now, I've been through WLS in NJ, my "specialists" are in NJ, the kids pediatrician is in NJ and to be very honest, I've become extremely tired of going back and forth an hour to visit my regular PCP in Staten Island, NY. I need a great PCP in the freehold area or Monroe Twp (we just bought a house there) or as close to CentraState Hospital as possible. My NY dr is male, young and very "hip", he explains every little thing and you can ask him ANYTHING and he actually listens! I love him and hate to lose him but its time to find someone closer. Any referrals??? Male or female doesnt matter but I'd like someone on the younger side so I know they will be around for a while to keep me healthy and has to speak fluent english and not be hard to understand- it would be a HUGE plus if he "knew" how to handle post ops but not necessary- I'm pretty good at explaining what healthcare I need. I'd appreciate any referrals

Thanks-
Janine

Hi Janine, What Insurance do you have, your Insurance company should be able to help you with this, just a suggestion.  I pray for continued success on your journey.

I have Oxford. Sure, they give me a whole encyclopedia sized text book of participating providers... but can't tell you one thing about them personally! That's what I'm looking for I guess- people's opinion on the doctors out there- Are they nice? Strict? (like do they talk to you like you're a three year old child who doesn't know how to take care of themselves) Are they impossible to get an appointment with? All those wonderful things. Thanks for responding =o) -Janine

Hi Janine, I don't have your Insurance so am sorry I can't help you.  Their are a few people from your area on OH, am sure someone will contact you, if not do a search for people in your area.  I hope someone is able to help.  Good-Luck!!!

Hey Janine I go to Dr. Alerio in Marlboro (on the Freehold border) on Route 79 (aka Main Street).  I LOVE him.  He is not young, but he is hip.  I don't think he is going anywhere anytime soon. LOL. He takes time with me and gives me a hug when I leave.  He was the doctor that Dr. Brolin referred me to when I needed to go on a "doctor supervised diet" and I didn't really have a pcp that I liked.  Dr. Alerio was wonderful!  I asked him a million questions and he took the time to answer all of them.  He is really good about ordering blood work and it's not too hard to get in to see him.  The office staff is GREAT.   Let me know the next time you are going to Delicious Orchards.  Maybe we can have lunch at Colts Neck cafe and I can give you all the details. -Gwen

Tuesdays and Thursdays are bad for me unless it's after lunch- my 2 yr old goes to school those days. I know they're closed Mondays =o( I'm ALWAYS open to a visit to Delicious Orchards. I can't get good fruit around here until Rifkin farms opens in a few weeks and they're limited. I'm open for lunch anytime if you don't mind my 2 little tagalongs.... I'll bring lots of crayons to keep them entertained =o) PM me when you're available and we'll set something up I'll definately look up Dr Alerio. My healthcare usually has everyone and I have a good program so I don't need any types of referrals and I can switch off anytime. Thanks so much for the lead!  -Janine

HI Janine, I also live in Freehold.  I've heard good things about Dr. Alerio in Marlboro but I love Dr. Schottlander in Manalapan...he's right off Union Hill Road by the Wawa at Covered Bridge.  I started using him when I moved here from Queens 8 years ago and didn't love him initially but as time went on, I love him...he has diagnosed myself and my husband when nobody else could.  My friend has Mitral Valve Prolapse and he was the only one who was able to diagnose her, even the cardiologists and ER didn't! He's the one who cleared me for surgery.  Let me know if you need anything else or if you want to talk. Michelle
