"Shrinky Dink" -Aetna NJ

ok fellow OH family members - I need help I need to get clearance from the ol' shrinky dinky - problem - the 5 dr I called that are on my plan - their visit is covered but all 5 said I have to pay 700.00 up front for an "evaluation" - any help finding on in NJ with Aetna - Jo

I have Aetna and used Advanced Laproscopic (Dr. Bertha).  I used the psych and Nut they work with.  I think it was around $300 each.  The Nut may have been a little more. One of these costs may have been reimburseable by insurance but I never pursued it. 

I have NJ Blue Cross/Blue Shield. I too went ala Advanced Laparoscopic (Dr. Abkin), but I did everything from Saint Clare's Hospital in Dover. The Nutritionist was in my plan, and all it cost was the normal co-pay. The Psychiatrist wasn't and it cost be $350.00.

 

 I would suggest calling the WLS doctor, and ask who they recommend. Also find out which hospital they do the surgery, and call the hospital to get the name of their respected doctors. Then call your insurance company, and see if those doctors are within you plan.

My surgeon's office referred me to Michael Sakowitz in Lincoln Park (and Wayne). His number is (973) 696-0800.  You would have to call the office to find out if they accept your insurance. I can tell you that I only had to pay $175 up front, and I was reimbursed up to that amount based on what my insurance covered (I ended up getting about $50 back from insurance). May be different based on insurance plan, but that's what it was for me. Good luck! Wendy

Sounds illegal to me if they are in your insurance plan. You need to call Aetna

Hi I used the doc at St Clare's in Dover (where Dr. Garrison recommended) and I had to pay up front but was reimbursed by my insurance (Cigna). Good Luck!

HI i am new to this site as of this am, but I am going to a wonderful psy office and I pay a $20 copay.  The doctor is in old bridge new jersey. So far I have attnded 3 sessions with him and he will be tying up and submitting an evaluation for me.  The number and name is Leonid Vorobyev 732-679-4500.  Its a wonderful office and they also offer a host of other services.

thank you so much for everyones help - I am going for revision with dr garrison - he is also my original surgeon and when I first went for my eval. it was only 40.00 - thank again for all of your responses!
