Got more questions

Let me start off by saying: please excuse me if my questions are idiotic. I am usually webpage challenged, so learning to navigate this website is a little slower for me, then for others.

(1) Is there a special section where recipes are posted?

(2) I’ve been clicking on many of your photos, and it brings me to a “myspace” looking profile page. Where does one go to create this?

(3) I noticed many of the posters have had the RNY procedure. Since I had the Lap-band done, am I in the “right place”, or should I be posting somewhere else?

Thanks again !!

Good Morning and welcome to the Jersey Board. I'm sure other more cyber-savvy will answer the first 2 for you but as for question 3: Anyone in Jersey is welcome to post here.  There are also RNY and Band boards if you are interested in posting there as well, feel free. I like this board because any local news or issues can be discussed without a lot of background explanation. JMO .02, RobinNJ

there's not a specific recipe section.  Some individual boards  (like the DS or VSG board) will have posters with links to their favoite recipes.   To create a profile, look up to the top of the page.....  running horizontally is a list of words, starting with  Home,  My OH, etc.   If you click on My OH, on that page you'll find a place to click that says  My Profile....  that's where you create it...   This is the NJ Board.....  anyone on OH with an interest in NJ looks here....there's also boards with specific surgery types that have info and posts directly related to your type.  there's also boards for 'lightweights', or folks with sleep apnea, or young 'uns  etc.   Happy Looking!   Good luck.     Mary C

if you feel comfortable here then you are in the RIGHT place  i think there is a page for recipes but i'm  not sure --  you can always google WLS recipes  to me, wls is wls, no matter the procedure -- it's all WLS -- we will all lose weight if we follow the basics  and i learned alot of stuff from watching my husband mess up ;) i vowed i would never do what he did at first haha he was my guinea pig -- and besides -- i yelled at him for everything and i didn't want him to yell at me for the same stuff -- so i pay better attention to what i do -- i eat real slow cuz i won't get sick like him -- i'm just following his lead haha and we are different -- we dump on different things -- we can eat different things -- and he had more to lose than i did so he lost weight faster  that's another thing -- the more you have to lose -- the faster you will lose it  i also paid attention to  my surgeon and nutritionist cuz i didn't want to hear  'well we told ya that and you didn't pay attention' lol when we had our first big meeting with everyone in the room they told us the stories they heard and they been doing this for a long time and just heard it all -- i wasn't going to be one of those people lol i wasnt' going to have them look at me with their heads tilted and thinking 'told ya so'  my fear is that i won't always be this careful -- i keep my surgery front and center -- i don't take this for granted -- i've read the postings -- i've read how fast the weight can come back -- i'm scared to death of being fat again -- sometimes i wish i could be like  ross and just say screw it and have a soda  or a slice of pizza -- i'm paranoid -- i don't want people talking about me -- they talked about me long enough --  take care roberta

Hi,

First i wanted to say welcome to the NJ forum. Secondly i want to let you know that i also used Advance Laparoscopic Surgeon. Dr Bertha is my surgeon, but they are both fantastic. I had my surgery on 2/4/2008 and im 46lbs down.

Answer.

1. if you go to forums on top of the page you will go to a window that has all the forums available and their is one the is all "recipes" and another one for "diet and nutritional".

2. I don't know how you do this, but if you go to my page, on my profile you can see that i have my webpage listed.

3. there is an forum for Lap-band but you are welcome here.

May GOD bless you,

Miriam

Thank you all for (a) your answers, and (b) the kindness and understanding to this newbie. I am glad to know I am "in the right place", especially since you've all be so wonderful - and you’re all locals :). I will start working on my “page” shortly – hopefully. … Miriam – the entire ALS staff are great. I have come to find that Bertha and Abkin are (kinda) interchangeable. And I appreciate the Blessing !! If it weren't for HIM, I wouldn’t have been guided to where I am. .. Thanks again to all !!
