Kinda New here

Hello everyone !! I’m relatively new here, and just wanted to say hello. My name is Tom, and on January 29th I had the Realize band installed by Doctor Abkin. So far I have lost 47 pounds. I still have a long way to go, but I’ll take it !!

Yesterday I have just started solid foods (cold cuts, omelets). So far so good, but I’ll still a little worried (A) my weight loss will slow (I know 47 pounds in two months isn’t normal for band patients), (B) my biggest fear is (the dreaded) up-chucking. I am eating slowly, and chewing 20 to 30 times, and the bites are small.

Any advice/suggestions? Any correspondence would be greatly appreciated.

the female in me has a ton of advice hahaha  1. never ever compare yourself to anyone else  2. always ask your dr or nutritional staff about vitamins and medications 3. eat real slow -- and take your time -- put down your fork or spoon if you have to  4. drink real slow until you get used to it again 5. never ever compare yourself to anyone else 6. only check your weight weekly or bi-monthly -- don't become a slave to the scale - your weight will fluxuate daily 7. never crush medication - always ask your dr or pharmacist  8. you can crush vitamins and minerals all you want  9. do not take  your iron and calcium at the same time - it won't absorb properly 10. never compare yourself to anyone else  11. eat all your protein requirements to help with healing and hair growth  12. drink all your water requirements so you will stay hydrated - dehydration sucks and is painful  13. learn to read the back of packages - protein, sugars and calories will be the major hitting points 14. basic minimum of exercise  is 30 minutes 3 times a week  15. mind tricks - don't look at this as a 'diet' 16. if you can tolerate hamburg then you can tolerate steak - just chew it up real good 17. chew till something is the consistency of applesauce  18. shout out all questions to us - someone will answer :)  good luck roberta

First let me say.... Roberta knows her stuff!   And secondly,  never ever compare yourself to anyone else  :-) Welcome to the NJ board - everyone here is very helpful.  Also, remember that at one time or another, we have all had the same concerns.   You will learn quickly how your body reacts and if your biggest fear is realized - you will know your limits and be able to avoid it. Lots of Luck on your journey!!!  You are doing GREAT already! Vicki

Well Ms Roberta summed it up quite nicely.  And she's right  along with everyone else - never ever compare yourself to anyone else.  We all lose weight at a different rate. My only other suggestion would be to take measurements if you haven't already.  I take them ALL over once a month.  I do the following:  neck, both biceps, chest, boobs (but I doubt you'll need to do them, LOL), waist, hips, both thighs, both calves.  Should have included wrists, and ankles, but I didn't realize they were fat along with the rest of me!  During stalls which WILL happen you may notice inches going down. Make sure you exercise and start training for a completely new lifestyle now.  Eventually fear fades and temptation can kick in.  If you already have a great routine down with going to the gym and not eating x,y,&z, it will be easier to kick temptation back. Welcome to the boards, it's a great group. Pam

but I doubt you'll need to do them, LOL) Don't be too sure about that. I think I need a Manssiere for my moobs :)Thanks for all your advice. I appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedules to reply. It was very helpful – especially concerning not comparing my results. I am very happy about my weight loss so far. I’ve dropped 4 – 5 pant sizes, in almost two months - nothing to complain about here. Well, I will definitely be on the boards more often. Have a wonderful day !!
