A question for the ladies...

Hi Ladies...I wanted to ask if any of you have had 'breast issues' after WLS? Sorry guys if this is too TMI for y'all, but I need to ask the girls! So far I've lost 85lbs and of course the body has changed a lot, after a recent mammogram, certain changes have been noted and now I'm facing a visit to a breast surgeon to discuss whatever the mammo and ultrasound have shown (I still dont' know, will find out soon). I'm interested to know if any of you have gone through this since surgery?  Thanks and Happy Easter to those who are celebrating!

Just had my first mammogram yesterday in honor of my big 40 coming up in MAY UGH!!.The tech said everything looked healthy but that I'd get the report from the doc. I know I've had alot more discomfort before my period & it seems to hang around but I figure it's gotta be the hormonal upheaval caused by the rapid weight loss

first of all congrats on your weight loss. im sorry you are having a breast issue, but it could be age and hormone related.  i dont think it would be from the weight loss, but then im not a doctor. just get things checked out, it may just be that things look different since the weight loss. good luck, jacki

It could be the redistribution of the fat and skin making things look different.  I will be keeping you in my thoughts and please update us to tell us what the doctors said! Pam

i lost my boobs somewhere along the line -- i think i could look down and be able to see the lump sticking out -- they would have to put my ribs in the mammogram machine to get a reading on me now  roberta

Hello There- I had the SAME problem.  After my surgery, I had probably lost almost 100 pounds when I went for my next mammogram.  It showed some kind of lump/bump.  They sent me to a get an ultrasound, which was clear.  But, to be sure, they sent me to a surgeon also.  The surgeon said they see this often after big weight loss.  He is watching me, wanting me to get a mammo every six months until he feels safe that's it's just breast tissue.... I am sure it is, he is 90% sure it is.  So, I am due to go back now, but soo busy with work..  I have to get back, I will take this as a sign that it's time to call and make that appointment.    Good luck and keep us posted.  I went to a surgeon in Neptune NJ that I would highly recommend, Dr. Dean Adams, but that is probably too far for you.

Thank you for your reply...I keep thinking like you that it's breast tissue re-adjusting itself, LOL...but the biggest blessing is that the breast surgeon is also a gastric bypass surgeon so if anyone knows the deal about big weight loss would be she..thanks for your input.
