Roberta. I am so sorry.  I dropped off the face of the earth.  I had the hernia and the panni on January 24 and came home to a crashed computer.  I was in alot of pain, considering I had a panni before and had no pain with it or with the GBS I was shocked.  I then got the upper respritory thing that went around but I got a really bad case of it.  I was completely a walking zombie for 2 weeks.  Then the wound blew open.  I still can't get a straight answer to why this happens but I had a hole in the middle of my stomach that was about 4" deep and 18" long.  I have a vac on the wound and still haven't gone back to work.  I was seeing the plastic surgeon every week and have a visiting nurse every other day.  About two weeks ago I started to feel like my self.  I started to drive and me and my sister ran through the wires on the computer and I am hoping it was just a loose wire.   I still have the vac but the wound is half the size and I will probable go back to work in 2 weeks with the vac.   Thanks for your concern.  I am laying low as sitting up at the computer hurts.  If I had known that this could happen I would have never had this done, but even Schuricht says that it happens alot. I will write more later.  I need to write Michelle.  My personal e-mail is [email protected] Thanks again. Jeanne

Jeanne, Sorry to hear all you have been through darling - but glad to hear things are getting better slowly and you are starting to feel more like yourself. Just a guess, not that you need an answer....but possibly with the upper respiratory infection the coughing was putting to much strain on your abdominal wound and that helped it to open up?  I dunno? Welcome back, take all the time you need, and get back to being yourself.  We're here if you need anything. Pam

Pam,   You look fabulous, you can so much see the difference.   The coughing didn't help but what I had is a very deep wound.  It looked like the grand canyon and I understand that when formerly super obese people have the panni and the adomin (sp?) done this often happens.  I wear the vac 24 hours a day only disconnecting when I shower or when the visiting nurse comes to change it.   Again thanks for your kind note.  I hope to back on the boards again in a few weeks. Jeanne

Jeanne, Funny you should mention the fact that it happens often - as I just took care of a man after I wrote you the message, in the hospital that I work out with the same basic problem.  He didn't have a vac, but I'm thinking that may be the next step for him.  I won't go into the gory details - but it was pretty gross! thanks for the compliments - I just posted about that as a matter of fact.  I'm not sure I like the new avie - it seems smushed and wide.....I've changed the dimensions a few times, but to no avail.  I have another party in 2 weeks - so I will try to get a better picture at that point and probably change it again.
