need a new surgeon
Ok So here is my story. I had RNY 4/9/07, and I have lost almost 150 pounds. I am happy with my results thus far. My problem is my surgeon, he stopped taking my insurance and coincidentally also stopped returning my phone calls. So basically I am looking for a new surgeon, one who might see a new post op patient. I have been told that it is going to be super difficult to find anyone who will be willing to see me. I was originally seeing Dr. Trivedi in Hackensack. I live in Carteret and was just hoping for some suggestions. If anyone knows of a surgeon who has previously accepted post op patients. I thank you in advance for all of your insight and suggestions.
I have Oxford Insurance, that would have been helpful to include in my original post. Thank you so much Melissa. I have been checking through the site, but was looking for suggestions so that I don't end up in the same position again. Thanks again for all the help. I really do appreciate it! Thank you. Marla
congrats on your awesome weight loss so far. you must feel so good about everything you have accomplished.
i used a dr. earl noyan in hamilton, nj. i think he takes lots of insurances.
however, being at the one year point, unless you are having surgical issues, i would recommend that you find a good primary care doc that understands the needs of weight loss surgery patients.
a primary can send you for whatever bloodwork you need and eventually will be the one to monitor your health in the future. as you get further out from surgery, there really is not much our surgeons do for us, even though we all feel somewhat attached to them.
another thought if you can afford it, is to see if your current doc will allow you to visit at a reduced charge as a current patient of his practice.
i wish you continued success,
jacki
Hi Marla,
Their is a website for your Insurance www.oxhp.com follow the link and you find what your looking for. Good-Luck!!!
Your success thus far is phenomenal!!!
I really can't help you with the docs - accept to echo that I also used Barix and love them. It would be quite a drive for you though, and am not sure if that would be best for you. I'm sure people will have other answers for you. I forget the doc who works out of Muhlenburg and will be going to JFK, but you could check them out. If I hear of anything else, I will certainly let you know.

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.
I would suggest you check with Dr. Ballantyne's office. He's also at Hackensack, just not in the "group" with Drs. Trivedi and Schmidt, et al.
It may be that he takes some insurance that they don't. It couldn't hurt to ask, being as he's familiar with their work, he might be more inclined to pick up one of their patients.
Good luck to you.
