It's been a very long time since I've been here...My RNY was Oct of 2004.  I've gained back almost 20lbs from my lowest weight and I realize I need to make some changes.  I'm starting to walk as exercise (when I can) and want easy ways to add protein to my daily intake.  I am looking for protein that isn't too expensive, tasty enough to actually want to eat and mixes well with other things (like applesauce or oatmeal, etc.) Any suggestions??? Thanks! Trish

Trish,

Welcome back.  There's a few people on the forum who have used the 5 day pouch test.  It gets you back into "touch" with your pouch and also back to the basics of eating.  You may want to google that.

Protein Powders:  Anywhey mixes into a lot of stuff and is unflavored.  I forget the cost.  You could also use Unjury which is sold only online (I believe it is www.unjury.com but I'm not sure)  They have an AWESOME chicken broth flavor

If you want food related high protein ideas (which may be less expensive)

Nonfat ricotta has 20gm in 1/2 cup.  Flavor with either:  Cinnamon and splenda for a rice pudding flavor, or sf spaghetti sauce + garlic powder + low fat mozz heat in microwave and it's like a noodless lasagna 2 Polly-O 2% cheesesticks have 16gm of protein total (each are 8) Look for the greek yogurts.  I personally find they taste AWFUL plain (like sour cream and who wants to sit down to a tub of sour cream on its own?)  I use it with splenda and sf jam or sf syrups (davinci makes about a hundred of different flavors).  One of the brand names is "Fage" another one starts with an "O" but I don't know it off the top of my head.  It's about 13gm per 6 ounces.  I also plan on using it in place of sour cream for dips and what not Best of luck, look forward to hearing from you more! Pam
