protein vs other stuff question

i watch my carbs because they put me to sleep -- like CRASH sleep!! but i don't count carbs -- i know that a sandwich will make me crash -- a half an english muffin will make me crash -- so i just stay away from most breads  as for pasta, rice and potatoes -- they just make me fat -- so that is why i stay away from them -- not a good choice for me when i read the nutritional labels my eyes go to protein first, sugars second, and then up to the calories -- i try to stay under 8g of sugar --  ross also eats the lean pockets - i can't stand the smell of them since surgery  i can have bread if i have a grilled cheese -- other than that i will crash and burn  as for the burrito thread -- i dont' like beans -- so i don't have to worry about how many carbs are in a burrito :) imagine this boston girl doesn't like boston baked beans haha  my meals consist of protein first -- and most times it's protein only meals -- just a piece of chicken or pork -- and i don't cook anything else -- makes for an easy clean up :)  roberta

my surgeon told me to beware of high carb foods.  for the most part i avoid pasta , bread, rice. if i eat i eat in very very samll amounts.  they do not go down well. i can do crackers and snack foods, so that i have to be careful of that,  but early out the doc told me he would rather see me eat protein on a cracker than start with breads and that is what i do mostly if i crave a starch. i responded to the burrito thread and i just try and avoid items with such a high count of carbs, and they were high in sodium too if i recall.  i just didnt think it was a good choice for me.  but i have learned here that everyone has to make their own food choices, what works for me does not always work for the next rny patient. hugs everyone, jacki
