question..
You mean like an abdominal binder?
I was not told to use one, nor did I. In fact, unless it's an open surgery, most times you will find doctors saying NOT to use binders of any sort. It decreases lung capacity, inhibiting breathing, and therefore causing pneumonia. It's the same reason broken ribs are no longer "taped" or ace bandaged around.
I must admit 2 weeks after surgery I had a semi formal occassion to go to and wore my spanx (which I wore before surgery and still do to control those bulges some) which were full body - from under my breasts into panty hose and felt MUCH better for the day - and contemplated wearing it all the time - but didn't.

Both pre and post surgery I LOVE my spanx!! And it's not just for "heavy" people - I know a bunch of thinner people who use them just to help the contour of their body. (Kelly Rippa admittedly uses them for that matter) It's a wonder product! And I have no doubt as the skin starts to sag, it will help when you want to look "your best"
The woman who made them - thank you very much and why didn't we think of this? Could've been millionaires!

Lingerie stores sell them, too. I would assume (but am not sure) that department stores have them. They are by the pantyhose. the first time (OK, all the time) you put them on be prepared for a bit of a tug o war - they can be kinda hard to get on up - but they do a great job. They have all different styles - just your torso and upper legs, to torso down to your calves, to full torso with pantyhose.
