5 Day Pouch Test-Completed
5 days went by really fast. I found out that after 1 year......a) my pouch still works perfectly....b) for the most part, I still eat right because doing this test there wasn't any significant changes in the way I eat or what I eat........c) I would urge everyone to do this test at least once every 6 months- it helps keep you on track and if you're at a plateau it may even help jump start your system.
Day 5 was eggs again for breakfast, 1/2 a Dannon Light & Fit yogurt around 10am( I couldn't finish the whole thing-WOW, imagine 3 ounces and I'm full?)....Lunch was a little bit of london broil sliced very thin & rolled up. And dinner was some roast chicken. Only the dark meat though, the white is dry and I thought GOD, the last meal of the test and I didn't want it to get stuck!
Again, lots of fluids, no drinking before or after the meals. I was fine. For all of you who think this might be hard, think again. This is exactly what the test is intended to do. Remind you of the right ways to eat, and to remind you of those feelings you get when you dont.
I may have lost a few pounds, but I have a doctors appt. next Friday, so I'll do my weigh in then.
And now for another WOW moment.....Next Friday is the 1st Surgiversary for Christine and I !!!
Is it possible that it has been a year already??? What a journey so far!!!
Have a great weekend,
-Bob
Bob,
I'm glad you found it so wonderful. I'm only 3 months out - and hitting my first real stall - it's been over 3 weeks for me without losing any weight. I'm seriously considering doing this to jump start that plateau - but I haven't committed to it - I almost feel like I'm to "early" to be doing that. Then again, I guess it's never a big problem to go back through the stages.
I really enjoyed hearing your updates. That's awesome.
Thanks!
Pam

Congrats on finishing the test and Happy Surgiversary to you and Christine! I think that's an interesting idea, to do it every 6 months--to remind ourselves of the rules.
I have been following the rules to a T since the test: no drinking while eating, protein before veggies, no grazing. I just feel better, more in control.
Chris has decided to give up bread to lose his last 60 pounds, so that will make it all the easier on me to maintain. There were times I would eat some whole wheat bread, and I know it wasn't good for me.
congrats to you and christine :)
it's amazing how we all have watched each other change over time and helped each other with our postings
glad everything worked out for you with the test and it brought to a place in life where you want to be :)
hugs to you and christine

It is a way to get yourself out of any bad habits you may have slowly regained after WLS. It makes you aware of your pouch's sensitivity and also to help you realize your tool is never broken - you just have to use it correctly.
I have not done it myself, but it begins with going back to full liquids and then through the stages all over again. As the name suggests, it's only five days long.
The idea behind it is not to lose weight per say, but many have found a significant drop in weight while doing the test due to going back to the basics.
