5 day pouch test, day 4

When Nannette first mentioned this test, I thought, I don't need this. After I investigated and looked at my habits I realized, although I have maintained my loss, I do things that are inappropriate at times.  I realize I use a lot of condiments that turns happy protein into a major "slider" food.  I have always been a condiment junkie...mustard, relish, ketchup, mayo.   I am giving up ketchup.  It's just not giving me any benefit at all.  I'm going to have to buy some lower carb brands.  But, even so, I have to watch how much I use, because it makes my esophagas into a slip n' slide.  I sometimes drink when I eat.  Actually I usually do it when I go out with the OCWLS group to the diner because I have decaf coffee there, which I love and talk so darn much I don't pay attention. Bad, bad Angela. Ok, so back to day 4.  I'm dying for a salad, but I'm holding strong.  Salmon for lunch today, probably salmon for dinner too.  I'm looking forward to some London Broil tomorrow. GO MEAT!

Hey sweetie -- glad this is working for you -- hopefully, it will do the same for me as soon as I can get on it -- I'm going to ask you to help me 'be strong' -- though I know I could never be as strong as you -- LOL I have to wait until after my party weekend in Richmond, VA this weekend - it would be just setting me up for failure to do so before then.  But, I'll be back on Tuesday of next week and Wednesday will be the start of the 5-day test for me. Thanks for all you do - and for being my friend! Hugs, Nannette

I have a few tips for anyone who tries this: 1.  Make sure you have no functions over the 5 days, especially days 1 and 2.   2.  Warn your family and love ones that this is very important and that you need their support and understanding.  On day 2 I ate dinner with Chris, but for once I made him cook it.  3.  Figure out what you'll have on days 3-5 and purchase it BEFORE you start the test.  I went food shopping on day 2 and it was tortuous.

This was hard, and I feel like I wasn't completely off track...I follow the core program. But on core I'm allowed some whole grains at particular times and to give that up was very hard.  On core you can have ketchup and some other things that really are the best for WLS.  Also, I missed veggies.  This test is like the atkins induction. Anyhow, I'm on Day 5 now.  This morning I had eggs for breakfast. For lunch, London Broil, dinner--I actually have a lawyer thing to go to at Crystal Point, so I will have the protein and nothing else.  I have cut out all snacks.  Before, I was snacking and I didn't like it.  It was impeding my ability to drink water during the day.  That's all for now, I have to get back to work. I will update more later.

Eventhough as you all know  I do not have a "pouch" this sounds like something I might give a try. It really, if nothing else sounds like a good back to basics and possibly a Plateau buster to me. I will let you know how all goes.

Thank you for your updates and your tips.  I do not think I will be doing it anytime soon, but will certainly keep it filed away for a time when I do! Pam
