Water

So, who drinks their daily requirement of water? Who doesn't? Do you break the rules of drinking while eating or after eating? Does anyone do "water loading"? I know I don't drink enough water, so I'm making a committment to get my 8 glasses each day.  I gave up caffeine so I have no excuse.  Anyone with me?

Hi Angela, I am 98% good about the water.  I freeze a half a 36 oz bottle with crystal lite in it and then take two of them to work everyday.  I usually get through both by the end of the day. I used to be like Roberta with the drinking with meals.  I have slipped up some but not to the point where I drink with the entire meal.  It would just be a mouthful.  It is not often but I have done it.  I control this by not having anything to drink near me when I am eating. I remember the old timers on the board talking abou****er loading and I think I am going to try it.  I did the pouch test twice in the past 2 months and it really helped.  I am going to  try the water loading this weekend.   Do you remember the amount we are suppossed to do.  I think it was 1 hour before the meal but don't remember the amount. Happy New Year to you all.   Jeanne 21 days until my panni.

Happy New Year!

I usually drink at leat my required amount of 64 oz.

I do not break the rule of drinking while eating.

I have used water loading on occasion.

I like decaf teas, so it's easy to get in several cups of that. Especially with the cold weather.

Good luck.

The requirments I have are 64 ounces of sf/caffeine free fluid, not necessarily jus****er.  I normally come pretty close to it. When I get up, before I eat, I have a 12ounce glass of crystal lite.  I only was told to wait 10-15 mins BEFORE eating, so I fini**** up and then cook whatever I am eating. When I go to work I have a 24 ounce hot decaf tea w/ skim milk At work I drink also at least 20 ounce bottle of water (sometimes 2) After work I'm at the gym, so there's another 20 ounce bottle gone Home for dinner and then after that I drink another 12 ounce glass of crystal lite I do have to still make a conscious effort of all of the above, though.  I need to keep it within arms reach except in meals.   I have taken one sip after a meal before my 1/2 hour is up 3 times.  I have not drank with meals, though. I have not done water loading - I once drank  a whole lot at once, just out of old habits, and I didn't feel well.  I don't yet get to hungry, so I haven't felt the "need" to do this.  It is in the back of my mind though, if needed. Good luck! Pam

Before my surgery, I was a big water fan, drinking my 64 oz. a day. I've found though, that since my surgery, I can't quench my thirst. I drink on the average of about 125 oz. of water/fluid a day. It does include decaf tea & coffee, but it is mostly water with Crystal Light. I try to make it a point to never drink WITH my meals, but I find that drinking a large amount of water about 20-30 minutes before the meal actually does curb my appetite and I don't get hungry shortly after eating.                                                            Hope Everyone Had A Great Holiday!                                                                             -Bob

First, what is water loading? I don't think I do it but maybe I do???? I get my water in.  I drink a 20oz bottle of Isopure everyday to get my proteins in.  I count that but now I wonder if I'm supposed to???  I was always a big water drinker but until today I couldn't handle plain water.  I had 16oz tonight. I do not drink for 1/2 before or after my meals which is super hard for me but so far so good.  I do have a drink handy just in case.

Water loading is when you drink a lot of water fairly quickly.  Generally done 5-15 mins before a meal, or during any time during the day when you are feeling hungry and don't want to eat.  Basically, you fill your pouch to capacity, QUICKLY with water so that you feel "full"  People say it helps them eat less.  When you sip water, even continuously, the water has time to come out of your pouch, emptying very quickly.  When you put that much in it, though, it empties out slower and therefore the feeling of fullness lasts a bit longer. I agree - the not drinking thing is very difficult for me.  I used to go through at LEAST 2 glasses of fluid with each of my meals...and if were out at a restaurant, it would be three because of the added salt and stuff I think.  I've gotten pretty used to it at this point, though. Hope this helps. Pam
