Hi Lily
Sorry to hear you had complications & a bad experience. I know that can be hard to deal with especially when you first get home. But HANG IN THERE!!!!
It will get better - a little every day. I had laproscopic RNY and I really didn't feel like myself until about the 3rd week. That was when I felt "Human" again.
My suggestion would be that if the pain is so bad it is keeping you awake, call your doctor. Maybe he doesn't realize how bad it is and can help you out.
Being tired is not out of the ordinary - your body has gone through a big surgery and then your complications - try to be patient - you will feel better.
Hang in there - your trip will be worth it !

Hi Lilly,I am so sorry to hear that you are having such a tough time. Are there any friends nearby?I agree that if your pain is intolerable you should call your doc.Hopefully being home in your own bed will help you rest.Don't do more than you must.Housework can & should wait. Not sure how old your kids are but they should be taking care of you now don't feel quilty you deserve the help.Hugs to you & I hope you start feeling better soon
Lilly,
This surgery sucks the life out of you at first, or so it did for me, let alone with complications. Yes, it WILL get better - day by day, week by week. You will suddenly wake up one day and realize, hey, I feel pretty decent.
If the pain is that bad, yes, you should call the MD. Do you have pain meds you can take at home? If not, hopefully he can get some for you.
You sound like you are doing what you are supposed to be doing - sipping on the fluids and what not. Things tasted different to a lot of people - just experiment until you find something you like. I loved warm decaf peppermint tea - it went down easy and helped with any queasy feelings I might have been having. My surgeon swears by room temp water with lemon. I didn't like that as much, though.....
Once you are sleeping better (which I hope is soon) you will also feel better emotionally and physically. I think many went through a "why did I do this?" type of feeling.
Please make sure you walk as much as possible. You are at a risk for pneumonia/another collapsed lung due to the surgery and inactivity makes that risk worse. Walk around the house as much as possible during the day. if you have breathing exercises, do them as told. Obviously, don't do anything the surgeon doesn't want you doing.
Praying for your complete recovery soon,
Pam
