Weigh****chers Question

Hi, everyone!!! I have a question. Since my insurance denied my lap band surgery because I didn't do a supervised weight loss program I'm now considering joining Weigh****chers. If I stay with them for 6 months, would my insurance accept that as being on a supervised weight loss program? Or do I have to do it through my primary physician? Nereida

Check with you insurance company to be certain, but most of them want a MEDICALLY SUPERVISED weight loss attempt.  That means going to a doctor for regular (like clockwork!!!) visits.  DON'T BE LATE, don't skip visits... they MUST be consecutive.  Good luck.

I thought it had to be supervised by a doctor as well.  Double check with your insurance specifically so you don't have to do it all over again if you do WW for 6 months. Good luck, Pam

I am currently in my 4th month wait for insurance and my insurance company (Healthnet) required a doctor not weigh****chers....it is going quickly for me though and I am looking forward to spring to get the band done.....start right away with your visits so that by June you will be finished!

hi nereida it should be a DR SUPERVISED DIET -- weigh****chers is NOT considered to be a DR supervised diet plan -- good luck to you -- and call  your PCP and get started as soon as possible -- all appointments must be 30 days apart -- one visit for every month -- insurance companies are very fussy about this requirement -- there is no way around it -- just get it done :) it's not as bad as it sounds -- most of us here have done it  good luck roberta

Hi  As everyone is saying, it must be medically supervised by a doctor and consectutive.   You should be able to get the requirements of your insurance from them (or a website if they have one).  Follow them exactly and it's not so bad - just be patient!   It's worth the wait. Good Luck!
