Dr. Abkin??
met both doctors Bertha and Abkins, couldnt handle my surgery and sent me to NYC.
I suggest you learn about all wls, particularly the
ds, you cant get it from Dr Mclean, or in Morristown , I had some pre opts down there, but it is not my hospital of choice, I go to the University hospitals in NYC. cutting edge.
Check out the DS forum here, and here is the link to newbie inquiring also.

Hi ,
My brother and good girlfriend both used Dr. Abkin with not the best results in my opinion. Their ports have shifted significantly among other issues. They have not been given much support or education from the office staff and have each switched to another doctor for their follow up care.
I know each case is different My brother was over 400lbs- He's now one year post op and has lost maybe 50lbs ( He's reluctant to give actual numbers). He's also had some shifting and slippage. I am not sure if he was the most compliant or ideal patient so the in that regard the surgeon may not have made the difference.
My girlfriend was 360 and she is a year and half post op and has lost about 80-900lbs. In her initial fill she was told she was getting one amount when in fact she received much less. it's also been suggested that she go in for a revision because of slippage and shifting.
At the time of both of their surgeries the scheduling turn around time in Dr. Abkin's office was pretty quick. so I am not sure if that increased surgery schedule effected his patient care and success.
Of course this is from an outsiders perspective and when I have asked each of them they would call themselves a sucess.
Please do your own research and go to a few consultations before you make your final decision.
