Hi All Just wandering if anyone of you have seen Dr Abkin? My General Dr. referred me to him and said many of his patients have gone to him....If you have not seen Dr Abkin ..who have you seen? Thank you Stacey

I never meet Dr. Abkin but his partner Dr. Barthia did my surgery and had no problems.  The staff in the office was also wonderful and had no problem getting approved.  Good luck!

Dr. Bertha was my surgeon as well.  I have met Dr. Abkin and I liked him.  I have quite a few friends in the medical community and they had nothing but positive things to say about both doctors. Their program and staff is excellent.  Dr. Garrison is also associated with their office now and I have met him as well.

Hi Stacey,      I too had Dr Bertha. My surgery was on Oct 1st. I met Dr Abkin as he is the one who discharged me from the hospital. Very nice man. Dr Bertha in my book is pretty much a "GOD"! The office staff is wonderful and very organized, so in my opinion...chosing either one of these surgeons is a great choice. Happy Holidays and good luck with everything!                                                                   Judy

Thank you everyone for your wonderful replies.... Marilyn: If you dont mind me asking..Did you have open or lap rny? How much weight did you lose and in what time frame? How was your recovery? How many days in the hospital?  Im so sorry I have a million questions... ** Anyone feel free to answer and chime in..jut looking for your experience with the surgery..and why you chose rny over lap-band? I believe they have done very few open surgeries. The main reason I chose RNY over lapband is because I did not feel the slow weight loss and the restrictions of the lapband would work for me.  I am 5 days from surgery and feel okay - much better than I did at this point after my hernia surgeries.  I spent two nights in the hospital.  I do not know if I have lost any weight because I am not getting on the scale until my post op appointment on Thursday.
