Hey guys im a year and a month post lap band surgery. After the surgery i took my diet to the extreme. I dont eat bread pasta or any meat at all. All fish, veggies, veggie burgers. i lost 85 lbs and im stuck here for about 3 months. i went back to the gym 4 days a week and i know muscle ways more than fat so its harder for me to lose. i am getting really bored of the same diet. i just need some fresh recipes to kickstart me again. anything will help. thanks

Here are some thoughts about being stuck. What you weigh is obviously related to what you consume minus what you use up during the day.  So either consumption needs to go down or exercise needs to increase. I see you are at the gym again so you clearly understand my point. Try a food diary for a week, monitor and then modify! Remember, the more you have lost the harder it will be to lose more Good luck Dr. Mike

The same routine in your diet may be playing a part in your stall.  If you are eating the same things day after day your body gets used to what it is getting and can work it's metabolism around that. What about dairy?  Skim plus milk has 11gm protein in a cup and no fat.  Dannon lite and fit has between 5 and 7 gm of protein, 60 calories, 0 fat.  The carb content in dairy is from the natural carbs, not sugar.  Low fat/reduced fat cheese as well. I couldn't tell by reading your post - why don't you eat meat?  Is it because of the surgery, or another personal preferance.   I get a lot of my protein requirements from lean meats such as turkey and chicken.  I don't know if you would be interested in re-incorporating them into your diet. As far as fish goes - do you do shrimp?  There's a bunch of ways to prepare that. Another suggestion, peanut butter.  Spread some on some celery or something maybe.  Again, a decent amount of protein. Also, while you are at the gym, make sure to vary your routines.  Just as your body gets used to what you've been eating, it gets used to what you've been doing. There's a cookbook that I have (but haven't read yet) called "eating well after weight loss surgery"  You may want to look into that or another same style cookbook to give you good ideas. Pam

Sorry John, I didn't realize you were lap band - I also am rny so my post was geared more towards that. You probably have already realized this - but really concentrate on fluids.  Is the one 8 ounces all the fluid you are drinking?  At least for RNY any sugar free/decaf fluid like decaf coffee, tea, milk etc count as fluid. Dehydration is a HUGE concern - and can effect everything including your kidneys shutting down. Best of luck and keep us updated!! Pam
