I just joined WW again.  I'm dealing with much head hunger as well as making poor choices for food.  I think that ww is the healthiest way to go.  The leader says she has a couple of people with various bariatric surgeries behind them.  I've had one fill, on 11/15, and am back to being hungry shortly after eating.  I'm scheduled for a follow up on 12/14.  I hope I can convince my surgeon to do another fill. Has anyone else used ww in conjunction with the band?  If so, to what success?

Hi Lori, I'm not much help to you, as I don't know anyone who joined WW, but I just wanted to offer my support. I got my band from Wasser on 11/20...all is well on my end.  Still too soon to have had any food isues yet.  But, wanted to tell you to keep on kickin' butt and contact me anytime if you want to chat.  WW isa very healthy choice and your choice is the only one that matters!!!! Take care, Blythe

Thanks Blythe, Great to hear all is well with you and your band.  I'm really glad I got mine also.  I thought ww was the healthiest way to go.  I figure anything that helps is good with me.  Do you go to the support meetings?  I probably will not make December but will definately make January.  It would be nice to meet you and chat. I personally am not a member of WW.  I do know people have done WW after WLS though.  They have found it helpful to say the least.  Many of them state it helps with accountability and what not.  There needs to be some adjustments to their program, but it works for them.  Do whatever you need to do to work this tool for you.  Keep it up! Hi Lori, I think it's a great idea, just for the accountability alone.  And ww has a good food plan and teaches good eating strategies.  I haven't been banded yet, but i'm following ww for my 6 month medically supervised diet.  You might want to ask this question over in the lapband forum, you'll probably get more responses. I've joined WW twice as a post op. The first time I like you, was very early out, and that experience  was not too cool, I had an unsupportive leader who couldn't understand some of my nutritional needs, and was obviously not a fan of Barriatric Surgery so that made for uncomfortable meetings. The second time I joined with a post of friend, and we were very close to goal, and able to eat a little differently so that may have helped. Either way I'm a fan of WW, and it will definitely help with your accountablility. Good Luck to you.

Hi Lori,  I'm reading old posts and wanted to chime in. I just had my second fill last Friday, and I think I have a little restriction, I can't really tell but I certainly am eating less.  I think that mostly it is because my stomach has shrunk so my appetite is less, rather than the band working though. I've been considering rejoining WW for the new materials and food tips. I would think if we followed the WW guidelines, and with our diminished capacity when the band is working, we would be very successful. I am a little concerned though of the WW leader having a negative attitude about the surgery, that would be very upsetting. I am going to give it another month or so and see what happens, then maybe join. I have seen posts on the LapBand forum regarding WW, it seems a lot of bandsters do follow their guidelines. Good luck with your journey. Eileen
