Dear Treena, You started this journey thinking that you wanted to get healthy and somewhere along the road you lost focus.  You thought that this journey was going to be easy.  You thought that you were going to drop the weight without any effort on your part.  You thought that you were going to get up off of that hospital bed and you were going to shed those pounds without eating right, exercising, taking in enough water and not eating enough protien.  But guess what Treena?  You got fooled!!! You got fooled into thinking that this journey was an easy one.  But I guess now you have to wake up and smell the coffee and realize that you have to put the work into this.  You better get yourself together and realize that this is about your health and not how good you look in your cloths.  You better realize that nothing in life YOU do is going to be easy.  You better realize that GOD blessed you to make it off that operating table alive and that you are still breathing right now and God is still giving you a chance to get it together.   No disrespect to Kanye Wests' mother, but you could have been her, but by the grace of God, he still has you here for a reason.  So get up off of your behind and stop having that pity party and do what it is required of you to get to your goal.  YOU of all people should know that this wasnt going to be easy.  Nothing that you have ever aquired in life has been easy.  So this weight loss journey isnt going to be easy either. Now, stop looking at other people and thier journey and asking God why isnt it that easy for you.  You are looking from the outside.  You dont know what those people that you think are losing weight effortlessly are doing behind closed doors.  You just read what they write and take it as gospel.  But missy, I have to tell you that YOU NEED TO WATCH YOUR OWN JOURNEY AND STOP WORRYING ABOUT OTHERS!!!!!  You dont know if they are healthy, you dont know if they are taking all of thier vitamins or protien or getting in all the neccessary water.  All you know is what you read and you sit up and feel sorry for yourself because you want to be like them.  SHUT UP and be like yourself.   This is your journey, this is your life, this is your health!!! Now stop moaning and get up and do something about it.  Be consistant like you tell everbody else.  BE CONSISTANT DAMN IT!!!!!!  BE CONSISTANT!!!!  Get up off of your wanna-be lazy azz and be consistant.  You have no time to sit around feeling sorry for yourself.  You have a 5k to run on December 8, 2007, you have a challange going on with others on this board, you have a personal goal that you want to meet before your 1 year surgiversary on December 15, 2007, you have a triathlon that you are going to do in 2009.  So, you have no time to waste sitting around feeling sorry for yourself and asking God why didnt he make this easier.  Nothing in life worth having is easy.  So get up, dust yourself off and FOCUS!!!!    You can do this, I know you can!!!! Just get focused and keep working towards your goals.  Like I told you before, "MANY ARE CALLED, BUT FEW ARE CHOSEN", YOU HAVE BEEN CHOSEN MY SISTER, SO START ACTING LIKE YOU KNOW THIS. Grace & Peace, Treena

What you say in your letter is right on. We all have to stop being so concerned with how other's weight loss journey is going and focus on what we are doing to achieve our goals. Some people just lose the weight easily, some are exercise maniacs, some follow their programs to the "T", while others don't  and yet we all still lose the weight at our own pace. You are right to take responsibility for your decision to have this surgery and do the best you can for yourself, no matter what anyone else says. Don't get me wrong, I have gotten some good advice from the seasoned pros on these posts but in the end it is you and you only that takes that weight off. Personally, I would like to see more follow up after these surgeries with the doctors, nutritionists and psychologists. I think they are falling short in these areas, weight loss surgery patients need good follow up care with competant physicians who have performed these surgeries. Unfortunately, the advice given on these forums isn't always evidence based and that can get people into trouble, that is not to say that those who give the advice don't mean well, it just isn't fact based all the time. Good for you for recognizing that you are responsible for your own journey. You will do well. Amy

Thats a great letter, and very applicable to me. I got fooled too...can we say SIKE. So many times we look at others, and think that the grass may be greener. I'm sure you know often times it is not. I personally know 1 person who is very close to me, who has made it to goal in less than a yr, and here I am struggling at 2.5 yrs out. Only as of recent did I find out that this individuals nutrtitional content is made up enterily of Vodka, and she is suffering from severe health problems. Yet all I coule see was her weight of 140 lbs. You have some major goals on tap, and I'm sure that you will succeed. Print this letter out, fold it up, and stick it in your wallet. Refer to it when you're feeling some kind of way. Wishing you all of the best.

Aliya....and lovin it
