I'm Almost In
After waiting for so long to have all my tests done, I'm almost there...finally. Today I received a call from my surgeon's office and it seems that they have everything they need in my file, all but one thing. The secretary told me that they need a letter from my pcp stating that I've been on some kind of supervised diet for the past 6 months. She told me that if I haven't been on any supervised diet, the doctor has to write a letter stating what my weight has been and what kinds of diet I've tried on my own.
She asked me what surgery I wanted and I told her I want the lap band. Well, her next question just blew my mind away. She asked me if I wanted the surgery done on December 12 or the 19th. I was thrilled to know that I can choose the dates. Since I'm a high school teacher, I told her that I prefer having the surgery on the 19th only because I would only be missing 3 days of work. Our last day of school before winter break is on the 21st. She told me they're going to start the process with the insurance company but she needs the letter from my primary doctor ASAP. This is a beautiful thing. My sister told me that the surgery is going to be too close to Christmas, and I told her, 'oh well, you can cook Christmas dinner for me.'
I just hope my primary doctor doesn't give me a hard time with the letter since I haven't been on any supervised diet, ever.

Good luck with the rest of your things. I hope your doctor cooperates. Also glad that your tentative date is so close, and works out well with your work schedule - that's all wonderful. And now you won't have to worry about over doing it at Christmas. I had RNY the day before Halloween. My family was so upset - no Haloween snacking for me, full liquids for my brothers grad party, pureed food for Turkey day. And you know what, I couldn't have been happier. I LOST weight the week of Thanksgiving - not obsessing over how much of crap I crammed into my mouth! And seeing me so happy ultimately made my family happy for me, too. Best of luck, let us know how you make out!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.
