It's same-day surgery now, with my bariatric group.  I got it done at Lourdes Hospital in BUrlington Co. by Dr. Samuel Wasser.  I couldn't be happier with the way things have gone.  Surgery was uneventful and about 1.5 hrs.  They had me up and around about 2 hours after.  I fely surprisingly okay.  Got home about 7pm tonight...groggy and sore, but happy as hell to be a part of the weight loss community.  Any tips anyone has about the liquid phase, any suggestions on recipes, etc...I would sure appreciate it!!!!!  Gonna go take some painkiller and get some rest!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the WLS club!  I'm not a bander - what kind of liquid diet are you on?  Clear liquids or full?  Do you have protein goals each day?  If so, what is it?  Good luck can't wait to follow your progress with you! Pam

Pam, Forgot to tell you what kind of protein I have.  The surgeon sold it to me...it's Ultramet protein powder, made by Champion nutrition.  One packet, mixed with water, has 41 grams of protein and 280 calories and 4 grams of fat...AND, they actually taste GOOD!!!  Don't think I was ready for full liquids today, so maybe tomorrow or friday I'll start getting the protein in.  How did you fit it all in without: a)the drink getting funky and warm, and b) unable to fit too much in the little pouch thats now our stomachs??? Thanks, Blythe

I am so jealous!  My doctor makes you stay in the hospital overnight.  There is nothing like spending the night in your own bed.  Even thought I am in a required one year program (it is required before surgery) I have leared more on the regular lap band board form everyone who have been through it.  I got lots of recipes and tips from them that I have copied for when I have my surgery.  Congratulations.......much to to be Thankful for.  Good Luck

I'm on clear liquids today..Doc told me I can pretty much have anything that gets through a straw fro thr next 2 weeks. Then, on to mushy foods.  I do have protein drinks, think I'll start fitting them in tomorrow.  Also taking a multi-vitamin(chewable, of course).  Still pretty sore today, but feel good. Thanks for all the support!  There is MUCH to be thankful for !! Will keep you up to date on my progress.

Congrats on your surgery.  I had my band surgery on the 11/12/07.  The liquids went well and before you know it you will be onto mushies and regular food.  I saw my doc a week later and he upped my food choices.  Good luck, hang in there!

Congratulations!  You are up and running!  Take each step slowly and follow your doc's instructions.  One thing I would add is don't drink with a straw. Let your stomach heal. When you drink with a straw you put pressure on yourself and get air in the pouch.  Good luck
