hi sam i had aetna when i had my surgery a year ago and if you follow their guidelines then you shouldn't have a problem at all being approved -- i was approved in 2 weeks we used  Dr. Matt Kirkland  Spruce St Philadelphia 215-829-3697 he is a gastro-intestinal surgeon -- he does bariatric -- RNY and Lap Band and DS -- you can look up his credentials on this site under "Find a Bariatric Surgeon"  -- they don't have 'extra fee's" hidden anywhere -- you will have to pay for Nutrition and Psych as far as i know -- the nutritionist, after you pay, you have him for life, for free, call anytime, write anytime, ask questions anytime, forever FREE -- their support group meets once a month at the Penn Hospital and that is FREE -- you don't have to find your own Pulmanary, Cardio, Nut, Psych or support groups -- it's all right there and his office will make all your appointments -- you just sit back and do what they tell you to do -- you get it all  he's only about a half hour from 42/295 -- i'm in lindenwold and it takes us about 20 minutes to get there -- parking can run about $10-$15 -- but you will only have about 3 appointments pre-op -- one to meet at first, one to meet right before surgery, and your pre-op testing at the hospital -- then one post-op at 2 weeks -- and if everything is great you won't see him again til 6  months, 1 year, 18 months and 2 years and you are all done with him -- the good thing about having him for our bariatric surgery was that he was also able to do my husbands hernia surgery which was not WLS related check out a couple of dr's before you make a decision -- this is your life and your choice  good luck roberta

HI Sam No i haven't. I am going to DR.David Greenbaum he is in willingboro NJ. Atena HMO Would not pay for me if i went to philly so luckly i found this doctor from one of my bosses that had the R-Y -Baypass done by him but i am getting the DS ( Duodenal Switch ) Done by him on 11/26/07. I have to go to my Pre op today. I see you also live in Mantua so do i. Dr Greenbaum is worth the trip ( around  1hr to get there) Plus he is the only one i found around here that does the DS that Atena will cover. Look around and make sure the DR that you pick stays with you even after the surgery.

I LOVE DR NEFF & so will you!!   He is just one of the kindest, sweetest, most capable surgeons I have ever met -- and I have had a lot of surgery! We have support group meetings every month..Come visit and check him out.

i HAVE AETNA POS, AND They do cover wls, not sure about the band, never considered it. I require the DS proceedure, which is now covered, it was not last year.
go to aetna home page, and look up CPB 0157, IT EXPLAINS WHAT,HOW AND WHY OF WLS, AND WHAT U WILL NEED TO GET APPROVAL,
ITS UP TO YOUR EMPLOYER IF WLS IS INCLUDED OR NOT, I HAVE VERIZON IBEW, SO IT IS COVERED.

CHECK OUT THE DS FORUM, ITS A LESSER KNOWN SURGERY, BECAUSE FEWER DOCS ARE ABLE TO DO IT. BUT READ ABOUT THE RESULTS.
