Lap Band Surgery
I am a recent lap bander, so I can only give you insights from the surgery and post op at this point. It was very easy for me to get approval through my insurance company. I started the process in July and the procedure was performed in October.
The surgery took about 45 minutes and I was up and walking shortly after the surgery and went home the same day. The marks are minimal and I was up and feeling normal by 3 days and back to work the next week.
The weight loss has been slow and I am still learning what I am able to and not able to eat. I have some sliming incidents. I am scheduled for my first fill on Thursday.
Hi Michele,
It's hard to know how new you are to considering weight loss surgery. Getting information is of course very important.
If you have not already gone to a surgeon run seminar please do so. Indeed go to two. Different surgeons will stress different ideas and it is good to hear different points of view. Also, it is a lot of information and hard to grasp it all in one sitting.
As I see it, there is a lot that goes into deciding between the lap band and the bypass. Gather information, talk to others, be honest with yourself!
Good Luck
Dr. Mike
