I am 2 weeks post op. My first week I lost 3lbs, and my second week i only lost 1 lb. How can this  be. I am eating 1 yogurt or  protein shake for breakfast and soup for lunch and dinner and sometimes sugar free pudding or sugar free applesauce with the dinner. It seems like everyone I talk to looses the most in this first month. Am I doing something wrong. Help!!!!!!!

I do not know much about the lap band per say.....I'm an RNY girl myself.  However, have you spoken to your doctor?  What do they think?  And is that what you are having ALL AT ONCE for lunch?  I would have thought that a yogurt, protein shake and soup is alot all at once, let alone the same for dinner.  Also, how much do you have to lose?  The LESS you have to lose the less you will lose each week vs other people. Hang in there - also the 2-4 week area seems to be a big ol stall for a lot of people - your body realizes how little you are consuming and goes into a starvation type mode. Good luck! Pam

The first mistake you are making is comparing yourself to others.  Everyones journey is different.  I am a RNY but my husband is a lapband.  He is losing weight faster than me.  But if I went by what everyone else does, I would drive myself nuts.  Just calm down, talk to your doctor and your nutritionist and see what they say. Hi, Congratulations on making it over to the losers bench!!!!   Your body is full of the fluids when you first come home from the hospital,  I remember when I came home I weighed more than I did before the surgery.  My ankles were all swolled up.  Maybe you still have a lot of fluid in your body.    After the first week I started to lose weight once the fluids were released from my body, and also the first 2 weeks I only drank liquids.  Am surprised you had already begun to eat pureed foods.  I think the only answer anyone can give you is to call your surgeon.  But remember everyone is different.  I hope you find the answer you are looking for.  Good-Luck on your continued Journey.  I will be praying for you.

the weight will come off -- no sense getting gray hairs yet :)  start reading nutritional labels -- how many sugars are in that yogurt?? how many calories? how many calories are in that soup? just because a front label says  "light" or "fat Free" doesn't mean it's the best choice -- learn what has 'natural' sugars compared to 'refined' sugars -- milk has natural sugars -- fruit is high in natural sugars -- diet oceanspray juice has 0 Sugars while 'light' oceanspray has alot of sugars -- also look for the 'splenda' sign on labels -- that helps me alot!! but after reading labels for 2 years now i can pretty much go shopping without looking now --  also -- when ross had his surgery we would write everything down in a journal -- EVERYTHING -- then put Calories, Sugars and Protein amounts so that we knew what he was getting post op and making sure we were doing the right thing -- then when i had my surgery 6 months later it was easier on me -- and i just started journeling my food again to keep myself on track -- i write down everything -- even water intake -- just so i know where i sabotage myself  good luck to you -- this is always a learning process :)
