Has anyone had any gall bladder problems??? I am in desperate need of answers.  What did it feel like? What was your experience?  The pain?  I again was rushed to the er on friday... yay me... and 2 doctors told me that my symptoms are associated with gall bladder.  I had called my gastro doc and let me tell you.. completley useless...i am calling my primary doc tomorrow morning first thing.  i feel like i am gettin no answers from anyone.  I got he results of my catscan and the doc said that its related to my kidneys!!!  well then why are the er docs tellin me gall bladder?? it is so painful to eat anything... and either i sit in pain and it radiates up to my chest or im throwing up and then dealing with the pain.  The only saving grace i have are the percocets .... that the er doctor gave me a prescription for to last me through tomorrow and of course my loving, patient hubby who has gone through so much lack of sleep because of me..... Please if anyone can help me i would so much appreciate it.  Thank you soo much... Christine

Christine~ I am soooo sorry that you are still dealing with this pain, it's been way too long for you.... I had an MRI yesterday of my abdomen, to rule out gall bladder problems.  I had serious pains, 2 or 3 attacks I call them, last February.  I am not sure they were gall bladder, but my doctor wants to rule that out before we go to the next option, which I don't know what that is?  But... my pain was on my lower right side of my stomach, very low.  It was strong, like labor pains, grew with intensity over a few hours, and then left slowly too.  It radiated to my back.  I had to "breathe" through the pains, just like having a baby......  I haven't had one since February thank God.  I had a sonogram of the abdomen about 2 months ago, that came back clear.   Good luck with everything and I wish I had some percocet to give you!   BTW.. I don't have my appendix, so that was never a question.  If it's not my gall bladder, I think it has something to do with girl stuff, like something ruptured in a fallopian tube or something along that line.  I had a friend who ended up in the ER with the same exact pain I had last year and that's what it was, a cyst that ruptured.  I think that might have been mine too, they seemed very similar, the pains. Keep us posted, and feel better!

Sorry you are having problems.  I had my gall bladder removed a few years ago.  I had a really bad attack - basically felt like someone was stabbing me in the area between my breast bone and my belly button- right in the middle of my stomach.  I saw my PCP, who had me get an ultrasound of the gall bladder, and get some bloodwork done to see if that was the problem.  He then referred me to a surgeon to have it removed.  Incidently, my husband and I were scheduled to go on a cruise when all this happened.  My surgeon told me it shouldn't be a problem, I just need to basically stick to a no fat diet - fruits and veggies only!  I think I am the first person in history to actually lose weight on a cruise - LOL!! Honestly, you should see your PCP.  He can schedule you for an ultrasound and the nessary bloodwork to tell if it is your gall bladder.   Hope they can figure it all out.  Good luck!!

I had gallbladder problems last year.  Pain was under right breast area and radiated around to my back under my shoulder blade.  It would wake me up in the middle of the night.  I used to go downstairs and just sit in the bathroom and cry in pain.  Of course I never went to the hospital or woke my husband.  Why do the sensible thing?   Turned out that while it was my gallbladder, it wasn't stones.  It was functioning at a rate of 20% only.  So when they did the ultrasound it came back negative.  I was so upset when they didn't find anything on the ultrasound that I left crying (and I never cry over my own health issues).  Doctor insisted on one more test so I went ahead and did it (took 3 months to get to this point).  I had the results in less then 36 hours.  Gallbladder had to come out.  Easiest surgery I ever had done.  Good luck with everything.

It certainly appears to be gallbladder related to me - you sound like the patients I see in the ED during an attack.

If your primary says you have no stones, it doesn't matter that you don't have stones, your GB can STILL be inflamed and causing you problems, or they may be to small to see...there's lots of possibilities.  I believe the latest statistics are that 40% of gall bladder related pain have NOOOO stones yet once the gallbladder is removed, people are better.

DO NOT EAT ANY FAT.  This will one hundred percent make the pain worse.  The gallbladder secretes enzymes to help break down fat.  The enzyme is secreted - and then pumped through "ducts" in order get it where it needs to go.  It also stores extra fat and what not in the form of stones.  One of my instructors @ school explained it like this "If your gallbladder is a golf bag for Tiger woods - he puts all his balls in there after a game....and finally....one day, there's no more rooms for the balls...but you push and shove to try to get it....and there is the pain...from the stretching of everything...and also from the stretching of everything when the enzymes are secreted and TRYING to get to where they need to go" Good luck honey.  Everyone is right - it has been to long. oh christine i hate the thought of pain for no reason  a bunch of years ago i had my 'stress' taken out  felt like i was having a heart attack --shortness of breath --pain up in my chest area -- dr told me it was stress  well............ 3 weeks later and a new doc i was having my gallbladder removed -- and the nurses were nice enough to keep my 'stress' for me in a little jar so i could take those stupid stones back to the original doc and show him my 'stress'!!!  the pain would wake me up -- nothing worked -- if i ate or didn't eat -- nothing mattered -- the pain was always there  good luck to you :)  roberta

Hi Christine, I agree with everyone it is probably your Gallbladder.  I just had an Ultra Sound done yesterday of my abdomen, kidneys, pancreas, liver and Gallbladder, I am waiting for the results myself.  I believe in God and everything does happen for a reason.  They should do an Ultra sound of everything like they did for me, and then they will definitly know what organ is that is creating the pain that you are having.  I will be praying for you and hope they do an Ultra sound on you right away.  I will let you know what my results as soon as i get them. Hi I have given birth to two children and it is by  far one of the worst pains I have ever felt. Christine..just a word of advice..please DO NOT go to Brick Hospital (my opinion b/c of my personal experience)..I I am from Brick and had Gall Bladder problems 7 years ago after the birth of my son...I was rushed to the hospital by ambulance..I collapsed on the floor in agonizing pain and my husband thought I was dying..I go to Brick Hospital and they tested me and after a few hours they told me it was indigestion and sen tme on my merry way home. Next day still agonizing pain went to my Dr he touched my back and I started to hysterically cry..He sent me directly to the emergency room.moral of the story here is that I had so many large gall stones they were blocking my bial duct and within hours I was as yellow/orange as a pumpkin...my gall bladder stopped working..they had to do an emergency endoscopy to remove th estones and I had to remain there for another 4 days w/out food until they could remove my gall bladder. My advice go to JSUMC..I have  the name of a wonderful GI Dr if you want it...He has offices in Brick and Neptune..he comes highly recommended by other Dr's as well.. Side Note Christine: You look so familiar..Did you happen to go to MDHS? or Maybe Brick HS?(Im class of 1997) Feel free to email me: [email protected]
