Medicare
Hi Mickey,
Your surgeon's office should know the answer to your question. If they do require the 6 month period please try and not see it as a "they are getting in my way" experience. Just use it to begin to modify your behavior in a manner that will sustain the weight loss that the WLS will help to to achieve. I know you know this; the surgery is a tool not the solution.
BOL,
Dr. Mike

I don't know if you ever got an answer to your question but medicare in NC does not require a 6 month supervised diet. Their is no pre-approval process, not unless you have signed up with one of the HMO like Humana. Medicare requires that your surgery be done at a Center of Excellence and your doctor recommends that you are in need of the surgery.
