I just had lap band done on Mon and today I weighed myself (Wed Morning) and I actually gained 8 lbs. Is this normal?

PUT THE SCALE AWAY!! Almost all of us gain weight during the surgery, between IV fluids and swelling.  Don't weigh yourself, you'll just make yourself crazy.  Wait until your first post-op visit and see what the scale in the office says. RobinNJ in Ewing

Hi Robin,

Thanks for the reply. I am going to put the scale away. I did weigh myself this morning and I

did loose 5 of those 8 lbs. I do go the the dr on tues, I'll see what his scale says.

Thanks, Colette

The scale is evil evil evil.  And I'm addicted too. It's amazing how much we put into the scale.  PUT IT AWAY.  I had to for awhile too.  And while I'm in the hospital, the hubby's ONE job is to hide the scale.  I DO NOT want to be on it until my two week appointment. The hospital stay has you gain weight..due to as the other post about iv fluids, surgery swelling etc.  The weight will come off. Pam

Hi Pam, Thank you for your reply. Yes I go crazy with the scale. I did weigh myself today and i lost 5 of those eight pounds. I am going to have my husband or daughter take away the scale and maybe do a one or two week weigh in. I see that your surgery date is 10/30/07. I wish you much luck. I see you are having rny, I had the lap band. Not sure how the recovery differs, but I am feeling good, just sore and alittle tired. Take Care, Colette
