OCWLS support group

Hi, I emailed someone about a month ago after following a link on this site.  Is the support group open to anyone? Is a specific doctor or psychologist hosting it? Thanks, Rita (pre-op) in Howell

I am sure that Nan or someone that has more information than I do will reply to this soon but the Ocean County meetings are not supported by any doctors at all. It is a peer to peer group that is open to anyone ! There are some great people who run and attend these meetings. I hope to see you there in the future Ray

I would be interested as well. I am in Brick. Can people who have not had their WLS done yet attend?

HI TO BOTH OF YOU THE OCWLS GROUP IS A PEER GROUP.  IT IS OPEN TO ANYBODY THAT IS INTERESTED, AND THERE IS NO CHARGE.  THE GROUP HAS PRE OP AND POST OP MEMEBERS, ALSO LAP BANDERS AND GASTRIC BYPASS MEMBERS. THERE ARE TWO MEETINGS A MONTH, SOME PEOPLE GO TO BOTH, SOME ATTEND ONE. THE FIRST FRIDAY OF EVERY MONTH WE MEET AT COMMUNITY MEDICAL CENTER AT 7 PM, MEETING ROOM A. THE THIRD MONDAY OF EVERY MONTH WE MEET AT THE CENTER FOR HEALTHY LIVING, WHICH IS A HOUSE AT THE BACK OF THE KIMBALL HOSPITAL PARKING LOT, ALSO AT 7 PM. Hi Rita -- I did e-mail you last Friday -- did you not get my message? In any case, I have been on vacation and just back tonight and trying to play catch up. However, Jacki said all that I would have said -- so I hope that you join us at the next meeting in Toms River on November 2nd -- (although unfortunately, I will not be in attendance at that meeting) as I have my nephew's wedding that night! Do you mean Friday 10/12? If so, my appologies. I got a new hard drive installed that night and your email must have come in after I handed the pc over to my husband. But thanks, if you keep an email list for meeting reminders, I'd love to be on it, and I'm going to mark my calendar now. Will I be the only sleever?
