I have a question......
Hi friends,
O.K. so im a week post-op and doing relatively well. Water and protein.......I'm still trying to get all that stuff in but here's the question. Since I don't feel hungry...I eat because I'm suppose to, I also don't know when I'm full. What I have been doing is since I know that my new tummy only holds 2-4oz, I only eat between that amount each sitting....then stop. It's easy right now because everything i'm allowed to eat comes in this cute little pre=measured container but hopefully tomorrow I will be able to eat food food. So is this how I am suppose to do things? Or at some point will I feel full when I have had enough. I have not felt nausea nor have I vomited anything that I have introduced. As always, any help you could give me would be great. Thanks
Hugs, Judy
Hi Judy,
Happy to hear your doing good. As far as feeling full I had my surgery 3 months ago and I still portion my food, I don't feel full in my stomach, somehow my mind just tells me when am full, I know it sounds crazy, I never felt sick either or had to vomit . I think for now you should continue to portion your food and remember to eat it very slow and chew chew chew, I have a problem myself with waiting in between each bite and waiting to drink a 1/2 hour after I eat, if you eat to fast or drink to fast, my stomach keeps giving me the burps for hours. It is definitly a journey to try to change the way you eat besides changing what you eat. I am still learning myself. So just take your time and continue to portion your food. I will be praying for you, Congratulations again!
Melissa
First off, congrats on your surgery!!
I'm still preop but this is what I have heard from others; That they eat when they are supposed to. They are never full nor hungry. This is why some refer to it as the "honeymoon phase" which is the first 6 or so months - not to hungry - not to full - and you're dropping the weight really fast. I strongly suggest, based on what others have said, that you do continue to portion your food. This will get harder as you go, as your hunger will return, not to mention cravings for food you used to eat.
Good luck!!!
Pam

Hi Judy,
I had my surgery 6 weeks ago today and I am never hungry. I find that I look at the clock and that reminds me to eat. I just went back to work and I have to remember to eat my breakfast before I go to work because I will forget at work. I also put my outlook at work reminders to drink my protein shake and to eat lunch. If I don't do this I will get busy and forget. So set times to eat and times to drink your protein drinks so you don't forget to eat. Good luck on your journey and welcome to the losers bench.

hi judy
glad you are feeling great :)
only a week post op and already going onto real foods -- wow -- i couldn't have imagined going onto real foods that fast!! good for you :)
i still portion our food out -- no matter what it is -- it has to become habit for us -- i use a coffee mug for cereal -- a small saucer plate for dinner -- the large plates never come out of the cabinet anymore
good luck to you :)

Thanks Roberta,
When I say food food, I mean applesause, cheesesticks, tuna, soft chicken.......I get to add a little more than yogurt, pudding and broth. I saw Dr Bertha today and I'm down 17 lbs since surgery and 28 since I first saw him in July. I have terrible food cravings even though I'm not hungry. I just need to concentrate on where I wanna go and that seems to help but it's still rough. I'm actually hoping with the little more variety some of those cravings will go away....hopefully. I'll let you know.
Hugs, Judy
judy
congrats on the weight loss :)
i still make all my food moist -- either with gravy, sauce, applesauce -- anything that will give it some liquid -- i make all chicken and pork chops with shake n bake to lock in the moisture
it's hard to remember what it was like 10 months ago since we eat everything now -- the yogurt kind of sits in the fridge these days
since i can't find 'diet' cran apple drink i decided to make my own today --diet cranberry juice mixed with apple juice that has splenda in it -- both are diet juices with little or no sugar -- and then i mixed cranberry juice with pineapple juice -- it was soooooooo good!!! pass the southern comfort please
