I'm home
Hi everyone!
Well I made it through and I have to say it's not as bad as I thought. The only discomfort I feel is the gas pain which I'm tring to work out. I'm also having a lot of trouble getting in all the water and protein and on top of that the "head hunger" that I have heard many of you speak of. I'm just taking it one day at a time and hoping that each day gets better. Thanks for all you well wishes and any info you could share with me would be greatly appreciated on how to combat head hunger and tips on getting in all the water & protein.
Thanks, Judy
Welcome home, Judy! Glad to hear all went well and that you have little pain. The nurses labeled me the "gas queen" which they said was a good thing!
The head hunger will go away, just relax. As far as the water, have some around and with you all the time - take sips. I'm not a really good water person, so I like to have Crystal Light around me - I do better with my water intake that way. As strange as it may sound, the protein drinks which I detested so much in the beginning, are just an easy way of life 6 months out. I don't drink them often - maybe a couple of times a week, but have found that the taste isn't much of an issue anymore. Muscle Milk (low sugar) is probably the best, but I can stomach pretty much any of them.
Hang in there and enjoy the ride. I hit my "onederland" goal the day before my 6 month anniversary. It's been 25 years since the scales read less than 200 - quite the rush! I still say it was the best LIFE decision I've ever made.

glad everything went well
don't worry about the water and protein right away -- it will come in a couple of weeks :) just keep sipping tha****er or flavored water -- i'm not a straigh****er person either -- popsicles are a good choice too -- at least it feels like you are chewing something
you will be fine :)

HEY JUDY
WELCOME HOME AND CONGRATS ON YOUR SURGERY
THE FIRST FEW WEEKS WILL BE A CHALLENGE AS FAR AS THE WATER AND PROTEIN, JUST DO THE BEST YOU CAN, IT GETS BETTER EVERY DAY
JUST SIP SIP SIP THA****ER WHENEVER U ARE NOT EATING, BECAUSE STAYING HYDRATED IS REAL IMPORTANT.
THE HEAD HUNGER WILL GET BETTER ON ITS OWN. I REMEMBER WANTING THINGS SOOOOOOOOOOO BAD THE FIRST COUPLE OF WEEKS.
NOW DONT LAFF TOO HARD, I STARTED WATCHING THE FOOD CHANNEL AND THINKING HOW I WOULD ADAPT THEIR RECIPES WHEN I COULD EAT AGAIN. IT WORKED FOR ME, KEPT MY MIND OCCUPIED IN ANY CASE.
GOOD LUCK, JACKI
Welcome home Judy! I am glad everything went well and you are feeling good. I could not get in the protein or the water at first either. Last week was the fist time I got them all in at about 5 weeks out. I have to keep an open bottle of water with me to get all the water in. If the bottle is open and I have it in my hands I keep drinking it. If I have no water with me, I never get my water in. Good luck!!!
