Update on me......
My hubby rushed me to the hospital last Wednesday night.... well the er thought i had kidney stones.. yay me... well i saw my Urologist today.. and it happens to be a bit worse then what we thought. He feels that it is one of two things... either a blockage... which hes leaving as an option... or.. im in kidney failure.... sighsss... I had kidney failure when i was 5... so re-live that again....sucks. I am going for a renal scan on Wednesday morning.. along with an x-ray. Next week he wants to do an endoscopy with dye to see what is really goin on with my kidney. He told me today that the cat-scan the er took didnt show any sort of blockage....thats why hes leaning towards kidney failure.... For now .. im taking some time off from work and get myself better. Worse case scenario is i am going to have to have surgery to repair the damage that is there. I do want to add... to anyone who is reading this... this has nothing to do with the surgery. It is completley unrelated... i dont want to scare anyone off. As for now i am taking one day at a time and taking my pain meds to get through the day. I will find out what is definitely going on by next week so ... that will be a relief... i hate not knowing.... lol I will keep you all updated.... btw i have to say Bob..hubby... has been absolutely wonderful helping me and being there for me.. he is my rock. I love you Bobby. Off to bed for me... im so tired... but pain free at the moment lol.... talk to you all soon.... huggss Christine
Oooohhhh Christine.....so sorry to hear about this.
If I may ask...what did they do for your kidney failure when you were younger, what was the cause, and how did you come out of it?
Also...if it's kidney failure what are your options now??
Follow your doctors advice, as I'm sure you are.
Please keep us posted!

well i went in for my tonsels, adnoids, and tubes in my ears... at 5... the doc forgot to take my tubes out. put back into surgery immediately. My parents never truely found out the cause of my kidney failure due to my records disappearred from the hospital. I had a great surgeon back then and he re-routed my uretur.. not sure of spellin lol... my kidney is not normal looking it is a bit deformed and the uretur is stretched and thin.... so makes it harder for anything to pass through. tomorrow morning i go for the renal scan and x ray so i will find out what is really goin on... worst case scenario is that they go back in and redo the work that was already done 25 years ago. my right kidney is 100 percent functional and technically u only need one and that one needs to be working at the lowest 25 percent as per my doc told me. I just want the pain to stop. It sucks. Im jsut taking one day at a time and resting alot.... i get tired very easily. will keep you all posted... ty for ur care and concern..... hugss Christine

this might sound dumb -- but did they check you for dehydration?? i went into kidney failure about 5 years ago and it was due to dehydration -- and YES the pain just SUX!!!! and yup you only need 25% of 1 kidney to be able to P :)
good luck to you :) it was great meeting bob at the meeting at toms river and at the diner after -- wish i had met you too!!
take care

Christine, I am so sorry to hear about this complication. I just PMd you before I read your story. I was thinking kidney stones, you would have them "zapped" and be all better. I hope you are pain free and that when you go in Wednesday they will find out exactly what is wrong. Get some rest and let us know how you are doing.
