Thanks Melissa, Sorry I haven't called you - I've been doing a lot of hours at the hospital recently.  Thanks for always understanding and the encouraging words.  Hope all is well with you. Pam

I am sorry for your set back.  Your attitude is good though.  I took it hard at first when I found out at my pre-op class that I would be having a hernia repair on 7/30 and not the RNY.  After I settled down I was okay with it.  The way I look at it they are the experts and are trying to keep me safe as possible.  As you said, a month or so is not going to make a difference in the big picture.  Good luck.

Hi Pam, I was sort of in the same situation as you were! I was all ready for my surgery, when about 3 days before I came home to a message on my machine saying they had to cancel!! I was so upset, I didn't even know they were allowed to do that! I was orginally scheduled for August of 2005 and had to wait until March of 2006. The reason was that I was only 17 at the time and even though I was medically approved for the surgery, hospital politics didn't want to perform the surgery until I was 18.  I was so upset that I gained an extra 20 pounds between August and March. I feel your frustration, but don't do what I did! I am now almost at goal--only 20 pounds away! If i didn't gain that 20 pounds I would be at goal.  Good Luck!! Jennifer

Hey Pam! I know that this is very upsetting, 2 weeks before my surgery I found out I had bronchitis...i flipped and thought i would not be able to get it but luckily everything cleared up before the surgery, but I know ur surgeon just did not want to take any chances, which is a great quality in a surgeon.  I actually waited a year and 4 months just to get my date.  the road is long and not an easy one to ride but in the end it will all be worth it!!!! good luck!! kar

Thanks kar... See my update about my thyroid ultrasound.  Things are looking better, just have to wait for blood work, and then probably another two weeks because my dosage will have to be adjusted more than likely. I'm VERY grateful they found this problem early.  I watched my mom suffer for a few months before she was diagnosed w/ the thyroid problem - hers had been out of whack for so long it just shut down.  She couldn't even blow dry her hair without her arms getting so heavy she had to put it down half way through and then finish later.  Because it appears that mine just recently started to go down, I didn't have any signs/symptoms yet. Thanks for the support.  I'm much happier than I was that night!! Pam
