Multiple tenure track faculty positions are available at Rutgers University’s School of Social Work. The School is recruiting tenure-track faculty members at the ranks of assistant, associate and full professor to engage in research, teaching, and knowledge-building for effective social work. The School is seeking individuals who will advance the profession in critical policy, programmatic, and clinical areas.
Offering highly competitive salaries and situated in the most racially and ethnically diverse state in the nation, the School offers degree programs on the University’s three major campuses: New Brunswick, Newark and Camden, with easy access to New York City and Philadelphia.
Applications from individuals with teaching and research interest in any of the following areas are particularly welcomed:
Nonprofit and public management; Direct practice; Evidence-based practice; Gerontology; Advanced statistical methods, Disabilities; and Substance abuse.
Newly appointed faculty will have a wide range of challenging opportunities, primarily in research, but also in the personally rewarding areas of mentoring doctoral students and teaching foundation and advanced courses.
Preference will be given to candidates who have an M.S.W. and a Ph.D. in social work or a related field, teaching experience, and an exceptionally promising scholarly research agenda. Two years of post-MSW practice experience is also preferred. For advanced positions, a significant body of scholarship is expected. The School, together with the University, is recruiting faculty members who can capitalize on the resources of a large research University by obtaining extramural funding to support their programs of research.
The School of Social Work has been preparing practitioners for social work careers and conducting research in social policy and clinical practice areas for more than 50 years. The School serves approximately 1,000 students, offering the B.S.W., M.S.W., J.D.-M.S.W., M.S.W.-M.Div, and Ph.D. degrees. Its faculty have significant research ties with Rutgers’ numerous free-standing nationally recognized Centers and Institutes, along with the Institute for Families and three new Centers within the School, and New Jersey’s medical and dental schools, as well as numerous community and governmental organizations. The climate at the School is collegial and dynamic.
