NJ Support

Hi NJ'ers. I'm having my lap band replaced next week, and I know it's going to be a bit bumpy for awhile. I moved to Bayonne about a year ago and was wondering if anyone knew of any support groups near or around. It doesn't have to be in Bayonne, I'm willing to travel to other areas. It's just that I seem to be in this situation alone. My friends try to be supportive, but they don't have weight issues so it's hard to talk to them. I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Hi Laura, I was told that Bayonne Hospital has one every last Tuesday of the month at 7pm. I don't know if they still have it. Would it be possible for you  to check into it. I'm going into the hospital tomorrow to have my lap band replaced this week and will be out of the loop. Hopefully I'll be in OK shape by the 25th. If they still have it maybe we could meet there, if we don't like it or it's no longer happening then we could start our own. Thanks so much, Phylls

Bayonne Medical Center does have a meeting every last Tuesday of the month.

Laura, The meetings are every 4th Tuesday of the month, in the Board Room on the 4th floor.  Start at 7 pm.  The next meeting is September 25th.  The meetings are open to anyone who has had or is considering gastric surgery.  There were gastric bypass and lap band patients when I went.   Regards,  Lo
