cardiac ischemia
Rachelle, If you read my response above to Laureen you will see why time is of the essence ! But I will deal with whatever comes my way and just keep trucking on with eager determination. Good news is I am a really fast healer....3 months isn't really that long at all. I have not lost all hope yet!!

Ahhhh, I just read your response. I hope everything goes well for you. I wasn't as fortunate as you. I had a heart attack and had to wait a year after to be approved for surgery.
I wish you the best of luck that everything turns out the best for you.

u are indeed most fortunate, the alternative is called a heart attack , which is when a portion of the heart dies from a lack of oxygen, so you are way ahead of the issue. when I had a colunoscopy, they found I was in a fib, that day, I didnt know it, the silent kind, lucky me, so I went to the NYU ariithmia center and had it cured, now I m ready for surgery, and know my heart is as good as a 20 year old.
Hi Kathy,
Something similar happened to me. When I went for my cardiac clearance, I too failed my stress thallium test. The results of my test showed that I had a heart attack and a coronary blockage. I was a nervous wreck but I went for a catherization and everything was o.k. The test was a false-positive which can happen. The only sure way to find out what is really going on is the cardiac catherization. So I'm trying to live by a general rule and that is don't worry until you have something to worry about. I drove myself nuts for nothing. Just wait and see what the cath shows and then you will know exactally what the problem is and fix it. I'm sure everything will be fine. Good luck with everything, if I can help in any way....just let me know.
Take care,
Judy
Hi Kathy,
The same happened to me when I took my stress test, I ended up having to have a catherizattion also. They found nothing and I was cleared for surgery. I will pray that the same happens for you. They will tell you not to take any type of medication other than tylenol for pain. The other medications are blood thinners and because they are going into a main artery blood thinners are not good. and you definitly need take it easy for a couple of weeks. The test is easy because you are put to sleep they will have the results as soon as you wake up. You will have to lay there for several hours , they will put a sandbag on your leg to apply pressure to the artery so it will close up. You will be fine. Just think if you never went for the surgery you would have never known if you did have a blockage or not. So be blessed and I will be praying for you.

Melissa,
The most ironic thing is that it wasn't surgeon *****quired cardiac clearance . The insurance company did. So if it wasn't for them being pains in the butt I would have never found out. Thanks for the prayers. I will let everyone know when I go and how it turns out.

Neither this surgeon nor the one I started the process with last year required cardiac, pulmonary or gastro. And at first I thought it kind of odd, but both men are reputable surgeons in this field. They were both given high reccomendations to me by people who had been to them and on this website as well. At the new patient seminar when this doctor spoke of requiring stress tests for anyone over a certain age I asked the question :"Do you ever require one for someone younger?" and he asked "How old are you? " and I said "35" and he said "Did you have a parent or grandparent die from a heart attack at 34?" and I said "No, not at 34" and he said "then no, you don't need one".
