Hello I am usually in the New York boards. We are planning on taking a trip to New Jersey this weekend and figured who better to ask about places to stay than you all. I really want to be near the ocean and Six Flags Great Adventure. Where should I be looking for hotels? Thank you in advance for the responses.

Hmmm... If you are going to be by Six Flags then you won't be real close to the ocean and visa versa. The "hot spots" for the ocean and boardwalk are Seaside, Point Pleasant, Belmar. The first two are a bit busier than the latter.  Let me think about it a little bit more and I'll get back to you. Pam

I don't think I would attempt coming to the Jersey shore this weekend without a reservation. There is usually a three night min. which is a real pain in the neck and the pocketbook.  There are alot of great places to go but I would need to have some idea of where you will end up at.

Like the first poster, Great Adventure and the Ocean are at least 30-45 minutes apart.  You could split  the difference by staying somewhere like the Best Western on Rt 70 in Lakewood or The Ramada on Route 9 / Toms River or thereabouts -- in that way you would be about 1/2 hour away from each location.  Definately make reservations first -- its a holidya weekend! Good luck.
