hi there does it have to be south jersey??  we used Dr. Matt Kirkland in Philly -- right over the betsy ross -- takes me 15 minutes from Lindenwold to get there -- his office is right across the street from the hospital -- they use a team approach -- nutritionist, cardiologist, pulmonary, psych -- everything is right there -- and when you are done with surgery and losing weight, the plastic surgeon is around the corner :) it's actually a 3 doctor team -- Matt Kirkland, Alan Schuricht and David Wernsing -- i think the information that this team gives it's patients is second to none -- and they are gastro/intenstinal surgeons so if you have another problem such as Gallbladder or Hernia they can do that surgery too - alot of gasto/intestinal surgeons won't touch someone who has had WLS since the intestines are now different -- just something to keep in mind --  you also want to find a hospital that is familiar with bariatric surgeries -- this team also does NOT charge a "program fee" which could run anywhere from $1,500 to $3,000 -- the support meetings once a month are free -- once you pay the nutritionist the $200 fee then he is yours for life -- for free -- you can email him, call him or whatever with any question for the rest of your life for free -- no other fees you also want someone who is close by just in case of emergency -- you don't want to have to travel 2 hours to see your surgeon if it is 2am and you need the emergency room  Virtua Hospital in Voorhees also does bariatric surgery with Dr. Gus Slotman -- i have heard good things about him too  if you have any specific questions then just shout them out -- someone will answer :) and there are alot of us here from south jersey  good luck roberta

Lilly, I second what Roberta wrote.  I had Alan Schuricht do my surgery and he is one of the best.  The whole team at PA Hospot are wonderful.  Roberta's doc is the head of the Bariiatric department and has a fabulous reputation. Sorry don't know any NJ hospitals.  Was born at Pennsylvania Hospital and had my second birth there.  Going to have my plastic surgery done there early next year. Good luck to you. Jeanne

I live in West Deptford (Woodbury mailing address - you know how that goes!) and I used South Jersey Bariatrics in Willingboro - a 30-minute ride up 295N, exit 47B.  A team of 3 wonderful surgeons who can handle any surgery you may be interested in.  I had lapband surgery in October 2006 (almost my 1 year bandiversary) and I lost 70 lbs to date.  Their website is www.southjerseybariatrics.com and we have monthly orientation/support group meetings at Lourdes Hospital Burlington County - first Monday of the month at 6:00pm (except Sep - meeting is on 10 Sep because of the holiday).  All three surgeons attend every meeting - give an overview of each procedure they do, and then turn the floor over to us "vets" to answer any questions you may have.  Their office is right behind the hospital.  You can contact me directly is you'd like to talk. lilly take mom to consults with you -- take mom to support groups -- let her meet other people who have had the various types of surgery -- and take notes at all the meetings you go to so you don't forget something  education and research is key in your health and decisions effecting your health good luck roberta

Hi, I'm in Woodbury, and have just started seeing Dr. Manigat in Voorhees.  His office is very easy to get to, and he really knows his stuff.  He's the closest one that I've located (and liked) and he's only about 15 minutes down 295 near the Echelon Mall!  I believe he will do whichever surgery you'd prefer.  Definately look him up.  Contact me directly if you'd like more info. Take care, Lisa
