Hello to everyone here, I am new to this site. I was referred by my doctor's office. I had lap RNY on July 18th and recently went for my 5 week visit. I have lost 14 lbs so far, but reading this site I feel that maybe I am doing something wrong.....since most people seem to loose 14 lbs in 2 weeks....or less.  I have also just given the ok to go back to the gym, no weights as yet though, just cardio.....am I being too hard on myself?  patience is not my strong point thx angela

Don't be hard on yourself.  Some people lose very quickly.. others lose it a bit slower.  Think of it this way... when was the last time you were able to lost 14 lbs and keep it off!  You also have to remember your body has been through alot and it needs time to adjust!  As much as we all would love to wake up 50 lbs lighter.. it doesnt happen that way lol... good luck and keep up the good work!

Please don't compare your loss to other's losses. It can be very disappointing. There are alot of factors involved. How much you weigh at the start? Those with less to lose seam to lose at a slower pace. Are you eating alot of processed foods? There is usually alot of sodium in those that can cause you to retain water.

As long as you are following your surgeons outline, you should do fine.

hi angela welcome aboard!! always nice to see new faces :)  i agree with the other ladies -- never compare yourself to someone else -- we are all individuals -- we didn't gain the weight the same way and we will not lose it the same way  follow your surgeons outline -- eat what and when they tell you to -- walk walk walk -- and relax :)  ask any question here -- someone will answer :)  good luck to you :)  roberta

Angela,   You have all the time in the world, just relax and you will lose as fast as your body let's you. This is a life time change, it's not like any of the diets you have ever been on. I had lap band done Jan 8th and have lost just about 50 lbs, I lose about 1.5-2.0 a week, whick is very normal slow and steady, which is fine with me. Im now a size 10 and have about 9 more lbs to goal, Remember, good things come to those who wait....I wish you all the best... Sharon
