St. Barnabas Outpatient?
Did anybody here have their pre-op testing at St. Barnabas Outpatient Center? I thought it was at the hospital, but when I look it up, it looks like it's at the Ambulatory Care Center.
I'm confused, and will call the doctor's office if I have to, but geez, I've already asked them a whole bunch of questions, so help from here would be very cool.

HI
I haven't had anything for WLS done at St Barnabas but if you are talking about the Ambulatory care Center across from Livingston Mall, it is quite a big center. They have a really nice women's center there. If you don't want to ask your doctor, call the Ambulatory center - I'm sure they get questions like that all the time! There are so many St Barnabas centers around now! Good Luck! Vicki
I had my RNY 6/21 at St. B.'s.
The pre-op testing is done at the main hospital.
My Dr. sent me to admitting to check in for it, but actually you are going to 2A- they have like a mini satellite admitting there.
The security as you enter will give you a pass to go.
The pre-op testing is done in an area right behind there.
It is also the same place you go to check in for day of surgery and where family waits.
So funny- they have avideo screen in that area that assigns each patient a number- where they can update patient info...nothing personal....but I was pre-op and didn't have my morning coffee the day of surgery so I'd have to ask you more about what the screen updates with.
I did not have to leave the area behind the check in place to get everything done...pre-op lab work...
chest xray, EKG and anesthesiologist talk. Nurse also takes a lot of pre-op info....
Not a bad experience at all.
They charge for parking and you will need to use the machine in the lobby to pre-pay omn your way out.
Good luck!!!

To clarify...enter main hospital...ahead on left is security desk. Tell them you are for pre-op testing and they will give you a pass to 2A- Please note- it is hard to fidn a sign that says 2A untill you are actually in it...if you wind up quickly in an area with a lot of chairs...look up and look for the sign.
It very weirdly cannot be seen until you are actually in 2A area....as you enter- check in people are towards the back on the right side.
My surgeon's office is in the Ambulatory Care Center across the street BTW,

Perhaps all the pre admission testing is done at the ACC (ambulatory care center) now that Dr Nusbaums office has moved there. Nothing wrong with calling the office again to confirm. Although if I remember correctly someone did call and gave me a time to come into the hospital for my pre admission testing. It was done by appointment.

Thanks, everybody, I'm just going to make some calls today. Jessica at the office told me the Outpatient center, and that I didn't need an appointment, just to bring my prescriptions. I asked if that was at the hospital and she said yes, but I just don't feel sure.
I suspect that this is just nerves about having surgery. Normally I'm not so jittery.
Thanks again for the responses. And hey, if I do have to go to the hospital proper, I know exactly which way to head, now!

Tami:
Hijacking to say that you are in *the* best hands. Dr. Nusbaum was my surgeon (I'm the patient featured on his www.weightlossnj.com website) and having him perform my surgery was THE best thing I ever did.
Keep us posted!
